I have a Q that says DND. My question is can it be tripled? I've seen Qs before that have DND and DNT. I would take the literal interpretation, but really want to not have troubles as I am having fun with my great deals! thanks!

thanks EVR for raising that question. I was wondering about the ethics, too. Seems like they mean what they said or they wouldn't have gone to the trouble of typing it and placing it in bold |

Can it be tripled?? Yes... but YMMV If the barcode begins with a 5, yes it can be tripled If the barcode begins with a 9, no it cannot be tripled unless the cashier or manager does it manually Will it be tripled (even if it starts with a 5)? YMMV. Some stores sort through coupons before they are scanned and pull out all the DND and DNT coupons. Those are then entered manually to keep them from doubling or tripling. Some stores do not do this. |

YES.. as long as the bar code starts with a five. BUT, there are exceptions...although its kind of complicated. A coupon has multiple codes in it that tell the computer what to do. Let's say you have a coupon that says it's $1 off of 2, two-liters, or 1 twelve pack and it says DND, but it starts with a five. The last two numbers on the inside of the bar code are going to be 76, which is $1 off. However, for coupons that it is $1/2, those numbers will be 33. But, since this coupon says it's good off of 2, two-liters or ONE twelve pack, those numbers HAVE to be 76 for it to work, it's just up to the cashiers to make sure you're actually getting 2 two-liters. Since the computer thinks its only good on one item, if you get 2 two-liters and what you're getting is only $1 each, it's not going to double because it doesn't think it's suppose to. And yes, this coupon would work if you only got 1 two-liter, but you're not suppose to do that, and cashiers will likely catch it and say they can't use the coupon. So, a coupon that starts with a 5 will double, but there are circumstances where it won't. So far the only one I've run into is when it's good off of 2 things, or 1 depending on what you get. |

Thanks! That's good to know! The one I have is the Ro-tel. It does have a 5 in front of the barcode, so maybe it will be okay. I guess I'll try it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making an obvious rookie mistake-haha! I was hoping to be able to take its wording literally Thanks again!
