Just thought I would post this info that may be informative to "y'all" for the Triples Threat this upcoming week.

I did a little "sleuthing/detective work" when I was shopping today at my local N VA HT. I was finishing up shopping today for a friend (who just had her new baby). Anyway, I asked my "favorite" Co-manager about the cut-off time for the VIC Card and the 20 coupon limit for scanning. You can still use your coupons AFTER the 20 coupon limit; however, the coupons will NOT Double, etc.--but will only scan at FACE VALUE.

He told me that the registers/computers resets at 12:15 a.m. So if you wish to shop for the "next" business day and scan your VIC Card, you can scan your card (or have the cashier do it for you) and your coupons will Double/Triple/Super Double for a NEW day's business.

Also, I asked about overrides for Competitor Coupons and if the other managers could override the Competitor Coupons for our "deals", etc. He told me that the Store Managers/Co-Managers/"White Shirt" Customer Service Managers, and Customer Service Clerks aren't available after 11 p.m. The Grocery Managers have NOT been trained in depth to know ALL the override codes. So it is best, in his opinion, to come before 11 p.m. and have someone to override the Competitor Coupons and get your "deals", etc. The Customer Service Desk is closed after 11 p.m.--managers may be there till midnight. Just check and see.

So the computers/register do reset at 12:15 a.m. according to the Co-manager. I haven't shopped this late yet--but who knows? Has anyone done this yet?

What time in the morning are those same managers available? at 6am or after 8am? I know I often get to my HT at 7 before work and its a nightmare if I have a problem. Is it YMMV?

I tried it at 11:30pm & 1:00am last time. It didn't work & was told it reset at 7am. Called CS & they said 7am too. Hopefully it changed--it has been a while .

It would make sense for them to change at 7am since that's when the registers are programmed for Triples/SDs to "officially" start.

Thanks for the info. I actually had no idea my store was open 24 hours until I looked it up just now. I've always wondered where people were finding these 'magical' 24-hour stores - I guess I know now!

Still, I doubt I'll be shopping super late or early. I just can't work it into my weekday schedule, what with my need for beauty sleep and all...

They start at 7 a.m. since the CS clerks are there at 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. when Customer Service Desk is open.

i had heard that cards are now linked to an address? is this true? i am leaving ono vacation and would like to get all my triples shopping done in one day, using my card and my husbands card. is this possible or will it say the cards are from the same address and only triple 20 Q's?

Just curious which N VA Harris Teeter you shop at. I'm in Falls Church and usually go to the one in Arlington.

My experience has been that the computers automatically sign off and sign back onto the system at 7 am. However if you want to go at 5am you have to have the cashier sign off and sign back on to update the system to get tripples. This is hard to convience the cahsiers to do but it always works for me. I went out once early AM. I will never do it again. I live in a really good area, but at night time things definitely change and it gets kind of scary. Call me a chicken, buck, buck, buck. (chicken noise). haha And cards are now linked by address, or phone number, either, or both.

yes, the cards are linked to address now...so you will only be able to triple 20 per day if they are using the same address.

As I talked about in another thread....just get the phone # of a relative or neighbor that has a VIC card and doesn't need to shop the same day. The computer will then see their address and you won't have to shop separate days....just do 2 transactions with your Vic card and the other party's card via their phone #.

i actually just opened a new account and canceled my old one. opened the new one under my dads address since they never shop there!

I shop at Fairfax, Loudoun, and Fauquier County stores.

Which Arlington store do you go to? I usually shop at the Ballston one...

I usually shop at the one at the corner of N. Harrison St and N. Lee Hwy or the one on Columbia Pike. I don't go to Harris Teeter (too far away) for regular grocery shopping, just during triples or super doubles. I almost never see couponers but the free/cheap items are usually low in stock when I'm there, so I'm sure there are couponers around, just not when I'm there!

I was considering making the drive to the nearest HT with my DH and I was wondering about the VIC card- can we each sign up for one? Should we use different addresses? The nearest store to us is about 1.5 hours away, in Nashville. The good news is that my mom lives up there so we have more than one reason to go visit!

I've been to that store, but not for triples. Thanks for the intell on the stock there, though - I was thinking about heading to that one, since it's the closest Express Lane to me (and prices are different at my store 2 miles down the road), but I'll skip it if the stock is usually low. My store is always well-stocked (except for good regular sale items on weekends), so I have pretty good luck finding what I want during triples.
