i went again with dh so that he could check out with me. It was one of my worst trips. I swear 2 calls to corp in 2 days. I am on a roll.
I really loved my HT until tonight.
It was all different cashiers, since shift change.
I got all my 20 items and so did dh.
Go up to self check out, scan all my stuff hand the cashier my coupons.
She calls me over and tells me its only 3 like coupons.
Okay that's new to me, i mean i know its the policy but in all the times i have done triples no one has said a word. I always do 4 like items.
I told her i understood, but i was in there today and checked out with the manager and i was allowed to use 6 on the wipes for my rain check. But she told me it was only 4 but i could use them today.
So we talked about how it was always differant some people know some dont.
Then she was like let me call over a manager, he came over and didnt even know. He went and grabbed the coupon policy and came back and said 3.
I told him i knew that, but it was weird how they are now forcing it. I was totally fine and then he was like its only 20 per day blahh blahh being rude. Okay so get rude with me is when i get upset. He calls over the other manager and they were all talking then he walks over to dh and i and said okay this is your last time for coupons. DH was offended and was like umm what are you talking about? this is my 1st time coming in here today. THe manager just gave him this glare. I explained to him i didnt care, i just hate they cant be consistant and no one every knows anything. He was totally rude and told me that i couldnt just buy what i want and load up on all the free stuff.
So anywaysssssssssssssssssss with that being said i voided off all the items i had more then 3 of. Then i asked the cashier if i could buy them in a seperate trans. SHe said she didnt know. then the manager had to come back over to over ride the voids. So she asked him and he was like no she cant split up orders.
I was mad, so as we walked out i said to him. So since i didnt use my 20 coupons you mean to tell me i cant get 4 more items for the coupons i didnt use. He was like No you cant split up orders, You cant do this or this you cant try to get around our policies. I said alright well i will be calling corp thanks!

So sorry you had to go through all of this. I have 1 HT that is so picky oh and rude and inconsistant. I think that it is just getting worse because they all hate triples. Perhaps they should change to Food Lion or some place where there is no doubling or tripling. Just a thought. I feel your pain. I now travel an extra 10 minutes each way to avoid the Harris Teeter in Lincolnton. If you don't get the right cashier then you have all sorts of problems. If the q starts with a 5 and says do not double they won't double or triple at least not for me. I have a friend that goes in and doesn't seem to have any problems, which is great for her but not for me. If it is BOGO you only can use 1 coupon for the 2 items again that is only with me and the cashiers I always get. They examine the coupons with a fine tooth come. So silly.
I now go in during triples when I can get things free or just about free with perfect coupons in the Lincolnton store.

just an fyi for the next triples......ht will begin tracking the 20 per day on your vic card so that you cannot do multiple transactions in one day. the register will no longer allow coupons past the 20 limit to multiply in one day, not matter what store you visit. it also will only allow 20 coupons per day per household so you cannot use multiple vic cards.

It happens all the time. You have to watch carefully. Some are innocent mistakes by the cashiers because they tend to stick together. I try to have everything ready so I can pay attention and count.

Hubby and I each have a different VIC card. We just use different address and our cell numbers. I am fed up with coupon nazis. I am not trying to skirt around any policies and just want to get the most for my buck. Their prices are very high so BOGO is not really like getting one free it is like getting each one for the price you would pay at Wal-Mart or somewhere else.

I heard this too! The manager and the man in the customer service told me yesterday that the corporate will run a test starting today. The register will start tracking 20 coupons per day per household, not matter what store you visit. The register will luck up when you scan your card again, but the card will reset at 2 am. I hope this is not true!!!

Ok... I am here. This rumor (yes, I am calling it a rumor) occurs every other triples.

IMHO, for them to enforce this would be the equivalent of sending business elsewhere. Think about it: I go shopping at 11am. During that shopping trip, I use 20 coupons and all 20 coupons triple. I go home. Around 4pm, I realize I don't have any XYZ in the house to make dinner. Back to HT I go -- only to find out that I can't use my VIC card to buy XYZ. If XYZ is on sale, I won't be a happy HT customer. And if XYZ isn't on sale (thus no need for VIC price), I still want my VIC card to work b/c every time I scan my VIC card, my son's school earns % of $$. Again, not a happy HT customer.

Guess what? That'd be the last time I make that extra trip to HT.

I have to agree with Lynda. As it is, HT's coupon policy sends me to Giant more times than not during regular weeks and even sometimes with triples, since they are lower priced. Here's to hoping it is JUST a rumor!

How I fixed that problem in my house a few months ago. My dad came to visit (he lives in a state where there isn't a HT) and he wanted to go to triples with me. We were only in the store a short time cause I knew exactly what 20 items I wanted. He said "Is that all your going to get?" I explained the policy (I was new to HT then).

He decided to apply for VIC card (he liked all the FREE's I got and gave to him)!!!! So that day we got 2 (20) coupon orders!!

I keep the card with my q's and have no problem using both cards in the same day, in the same store, after taking out my first order to the car

I still give him all the FREE's when he comes to visit, cause he always brings me inserts

At my store, the register wouldn't take the 4th coupon for the same brand product (even if the item is slightly different). They just overrode it but I think if I had 19 they may have given me trouble. It won't get the cashier in trouble, if they didn't catch it at the register, I doubt they'll even notice. You can break it up into a different transaction if your store lets you, but usually there's a 5 transactions per day limit.

Yup just a rumor. They arent going to be doing nothing, its the same thing that happens every triples.

So until it actually happens i will keep doing what i do. If it ever goes to 1 a day, then that is when i will get 10 cards
