| HT Coupon Policy ~ UPDATED 6/14/09 - post #26 Harris Teeter - Your Neighborhood Food Market I am copying the coupon policy straight from HT website: Harris Teeter - Your Neighborhood Food Market The bold printed information are my comments. 1. We accept coupons that have not passed their expiration date for use; we can not accept any expired coupons. Now according to the manager at my HT (another AFC member found her HT mgr in agreement): HT will take expired coupons as long as the expiration date is within their 'work week'. Their 'work week' = Wed to Tues. So, if you have a coupon that expires on Monday, you could use it on Tues (key note: WITH MGR APPROVAL) but you could NOT use it on Wed. 2. We accept only one manufacturer coupon per purchased item 3. We do not accept coupons on items not purchased 4. Coupons must be presented at time of purchase; we can not return money for coupons not used 5. Coupons presented and items purchased must match exactly; size, variety, flavor, etc. 6. We uphold any purchase stipulations set forth by product manufacturer 7. We accept only one coupon for Buy One Get one Free items; we can not accept a coupon for a product that is received free. This policy keeps changing Now each item rings up 1/2 price. It is YMMV whether your HT will accept a coupon for each item with little to no hassle. 8. We accept coupons for items only of equal or more value; we don’t give cash back. If the face value of your coupon is worth MORE than the regular price of an item, the register will beep and cashier will need a manager to enter coupon manually. And most likely, if the cashier/manager is paying attention, the value they enter into the computer will NOT be the coupon's value BUT the item's value. 9. Sales tax is paid by customer at full retail. 10. We accept 20 double coupons per day per household with VIC card; all others redeemed at face value. The register/computer system will acknowledge your VIC card 5 times per day. It does NOT track coupons. So, technically you can make 4-5 trips into HT on one day and use (20) coupons each time. 11. We double manufacturer coupons up to face value of .99; with total amount not to exceed $1.98 or entire retail of item; whichever is less. Harris Teeter does NOT give overage on a coupons There used to be overage. The computer systems were changed and now there is no more overages. 12. We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon; additional coupons for like item will be honored at face value. Now this is truly a YMMV. Also HOW this rule is interpreted is YMMV. I had one asst mgr tell me that I could use (6) identical Suave 0.50/1 coupons as long as my (6) Suave product were not all identical. See, the wording does NOT say "3 identical coupons". It says, "3 identical items". And to this asst mgr: (3) Suave shampoos were different from (3) Suave conditioners. Again: YMMV The register will double/triple up to 20 coupons per transaction -- whether all 20 are different or the same. The register has not been programmed with this '3 like coupon' rule. Also, please notice that this rule refers to the doubling (or tripling) of coupons -- it does not refer to those coupons accepted at FACE VALUE ($1+). Nowhere in HT policy do they say anything about accepting many identical coupons that don't double/triple. 13. We accept “cents off” internet coupons 14. No “FREE” product internet coupons are accepted 15. We accept up to two (2) internet coupons per manufacturer product, per store visit. Another rule with tricky wording. See, I do NOT read that as "We ONLY accept TWO internet coupons per order." I read that as "TWO internet coupons per mfr product." Thus, if have (2) internet Dial bodywash coupons AND (2) internet Charmin coupons; then I can use all (4) coupons during one visit. Yes, another YMMV, but I have had HT managers agree with me. 16. We do not accept internet coupons that do not appear to be originals or that won’t scan 17. Internet coupons that state 'not subject to doubling or tripling' will be handled as such Of course we all know that if that coupon barcode starts with a '5', it will double/triple UNLESS the cashier catches it and enters it manually. I hope this is helpful information to all. LMK if I forgot anything! Last edited by LyndaSLP; 02-03-2009 at 06:24 AM. Reason: update |

| Thanks. That has always been HT policy. It is listed under "doubling." Some HT stores do double/triple IPs because the computer automatically does it. It is up to the cashier to manually override the computer, if they want to.

Okay. I have never seen that exact phrasing. I have seen it say they will not do it if the coupon says do not double or triple, but this phrasing is different. I will find out in the morning if they are going to start manu entering internet coupons or not.

They have changed their coupon policy. Harris Teeter - Coupon Policy Looks like they took off the not doubling of Internet coupons and added a limit of three on the rainchecks. Michelle |

I recently used a bunch of Internet coupons and they doubled. The cashier looked right at them and they said not to be doubled on them. But when they scanned, it doubled. So it may be store dependent.

| The new policy is that IP's will double the same as any other coupon (up to .99 excluding coupons for "free" items) They will be counted towrds the 20 double coupons limit. They also still maintain that if the Ip's don't scan they won't take them

Wow I am glad we had this posted. I just got into a fight with cashier, assitant manager and manager on how many coupons I could use. The all insisted I could only use 20 periord. I said no 20 will double the rest are at face value. They said no 20 period. But looks like I am right (I only have 10 coupons that I wanted to double and then 15 at face value)...wow they gave me such a hard time but I spent $48 and I used $48 worth of coupons so it was worth the fight... |

Competitor’s Coupons We gladly accept local competitors’ circular or direct-mail coupons for MONEY OFF THE TOTAL ORDER; we do not take competitor’s coupons for money off specific items. Do you all think that they would take the $5 off $25 CVS that came in mail? |

| I've heard that this depends on your store. It can't hurt to ask, some people are reporting that their stores are accepting them.

I was able to use the CVS $3/15 but it was such a big hassle. Took about 20 min before they finally put it thru (they didn't argue with me but had to talk to evryone under the sun to figure out how to do it)...

| $ off $ Quote:
I am new to HT because I dont have one close. There are several in the area when I visit my Mom so I thought I would look into this thread....seeing Triples turned my eyes!!! After reading the polocies it says that they will honor other stores coupons and money off total orders. Not sure if it will help anyone but Food Lion always has coupons every week. Blooms just had(might still be good) a coupon for 10.00 off of 35.00 Food Lion just had one for 5.00 off 30.00 so it might not be a bad thing to keep an eye out for competitors sales......which I am sure most of you old timers do already! There are usually paperclips in each thread that lead to valuable coupons. I am going to be close to a HT on Monday and will do my first triples. I will try to report back. Thanks to those of you that post the good deals that you find and may we all try to help each other the most we can during this upcoming new year. Happy New Year!! |

Thanks for the reply. I understand that triples end today, but I will try to get in on Monday to check out a HT in person and look around for the next set of triples. Might even get some good deals with the doubles too. I get it vary if these stores would honor an internet coupon for money off, but I understood the policy to read that they would. ? if you ran off the email they sent with the link and not just the coupon? I would try it if I were around. Also.....sometimes the $off$ is listed in the sales papers, which would for sure allow you to be able to get. How about the super Kmart groc ads too? They have one that is current but I am not sure if that one is posted in their groc paper. I just try to explore all options. Like I said, I do not have a HT by me and am not familiar w/ how things work there. I only read the coupon rules, and just might have read more into it. Will keep watching thread, to learn more, cause I see that some of you are getting great deals........especially during these triple sales. |

Thanks for this post, very informative! Especially the part about being able to go 5 times in one day with 20 Qs each! I figured the computer would prevent that. That rocks!!

Is it true that for competitor coupons $ off the total you can only use 1 per transaction? That's what the store told me today but the coupon policy is not that specific. I have a bunch of Walgreens RRs to use...

| Help me
Instead of trying to circumvent the rules why not abide by them. I think the rules are in place to keep items on the shelves for all customers. HT does a good job at restocking but it is unfair for people to clean them out. Buy what you need and move on. PLEASE. |
