As you know, when a child begins school he/she starts at the lowest rung - kindergarten. And in kindergarten they are taught many things.
  • Don't push
  • Wait in line
  • Don't break in line
  • Don't hit
  • Smile
  • Don't whine
  • Be kind
  • Share
  • Etc., etc.
There are some children who fail kindergarten. These are sad situations because when they grow up they are sometimes rude, inconsiderate, bullies, etc. (Now I am not speaking of the child who has trouble learning or other issues. I'm speaking in generalities about the one's who don't learn the "rules of life.")

When you meet up in life with these "rule breakers" and they say things that are inappropriate to you, about you, about others, behind other's backs, etc., and these things hurt you, irritate you, cause you worry or concern, I say to you CONSIDER THE SOURCE - it is someone who didn't learn the "rules of life."

If it hurts you - CONSIDER THE SOURCE
If it offends you - CONSIDER THE SOURCE
If it irritates you - CONSIDER THE SOURCE
If it causes you worry - CONSIDER THE SOURCE

Try to be gentle in life and let it roll off your back. I'm speaking to myself here as well as to all of you. I've been hurt. I've been offended. I've been caused worry and frustration. I've been "put down." But I've been told to "CONSIDER THE SOURCE."

And remember to do to others as you would have others do to you.

Sorry you had the unfortunate behavior in your face today, marbear. I know it is hard.

I think twins are neat!, I don't have any, nor did I want any. Just like people with large families, if that is what they want, more power to them. If I see someone with a large amount of children, I say, "I've got to hand it it you, I wouldn't be able to do it. For myself, I think two is plenty, but I don't put people down for having more. The Bible says, "happy is the man with a quiver full of them". My parents were happy with six of us, I couldn't handle more than two, that is why I stopped. But to each his own.

My preacher came to our home when the babies were born and he read that part of the Bible to us and said prayers for them and then he said "A quiver usually has 5 arrows in it (children are like arrows in that they go somewhere we will not go and they need guidance) and I know when I think about having 5 children, I QUIVER." He breaks out that joke every chance he gets.

Dance I Love Twins!!

From the time I was in my mid to late 20s I decided how much fun it would be to have twins, I figured they could play together and occupy their time together when I couldn't... As soon as I started telling people how I felt, they immediately started calling me crazy and told me how much I really didn't want twins, that I didn't know what I was asking for. Then before I turned 30 I found out I was pregnant for the first time and carrying twins, everything I had hoped for was coming true, everything was and still is perfect, we have 2 beautiful little girls who like I had hoped for, play amazing together, I'm not saying they don't fight, cause that would be a lie, but they really are amazing little girls and fraternal... Oh yeah, twins don't run in my or my husbands family, their the first set of twins in many generations on both sides. ^_^
P.S. We want twin boys next...

I just love that! I've been very fortunate that all I've ever gotten is the "double trouble" remark -- I just say, "double the pleasure." and smile at them. Of course, on bad days, I want to say, "you ain't kiddin'!!!"

Now, one of my friends with twins was frequently asked if they were conceived using fertility drugs, and she proceeds to tell them EXACTLY how they were conceived! hint: it WASN'T fertility drugs!

My BFF has 5 children and the last 2 were twins of course. She and I always joked that she just couldn't pass up a B1G1 Free offer on anything.

The most ignorant comment she ever got and she got it often is "are they identical?" - Umm No One is a Boy and One is a Girl. They could not understand that they couldn't be identical and opposite sex. Funny part is they don't even look alike except for they both have blue eyes and are at least 6' tall (yes both DD is 6' & DS is 6'3") and their personalities are different as night and day.

I would have just went off on them for you had I been there. You just have to remember that you were obviously raised with a lot more class and tact than those low life's. And if anyone asks you if they were "natural" ask them something equally as none of their business as like:

"what is the balance in your checking account - oh see I thought we were asking stupid personal questions that should never be asked of or by decent people"

I’m so sorry that happened.

We always get some inappropriate comments too, my boys are pretty close in age and I like to dress them alike so I get asked a lot if they are twins and I‘ve had several people tell me “Double trouble“ too. My boys are 2T and the other is a 4T so it’s no like they are the same size, so I don‘t really understand that?? They are both special needs so I get the stares about that too. I just have to ignore it and I had to learn to have very thick skin about it. I prefer to believe that I was double blessed.

I have two stepkids with visual impairments and a brother with twin boys. People just don't think when they open their mouths and say stupid stuff. I try to smile and ignore them

I am sorry this happened to you but yes I am appalled that they wouldnt get out of the chairs for the kids to use!!! Of course making dumb comments. They obviously are not happy in their lives that they have to bring others down.

if I were in your shoes,I would have taken my cell phone out and call a friend and ramble about how the twins can't play because 2 old dimbats were sitting on the toddler chairs, and you were afraid that the chair would be a hazard after that, because of the enormous weight inflicted on the plastic...

I don't have twins but I do have 3 girls, ages 2, 4 & 5. I got a lot of "don't you know what causes that?" and "you should get a TV in your bedroom" comments, which are both totally innapropriate. These women don't sound very nice at all but a lot of people are probably just trying to be funny. Just brush it off girl, don't let stupid people get you down!

I'm not a parent, but I am a people-watcher. I have noticed that even complete strangers feel it's okay to comment on other people's kids. I think most of it is harmless, because they cannot hear themselves speak. Some of us have a filter between the brain and the mouth, and some don't! What amazes me is that they were sitting in the kid chairs and would not get up! Don't worry about them and enjoy your precious gifts

They did not move so I could get the twins seated and busy in the bead thing...so I just had to hold one and try to keep one wrangled. As soon as I come in they start ranting on about twins. One said there was no way she could have twins b/c they don't run in her family.

They were also judging folks when they would leave the room on how they were parenting. Can you really some up someone's parenting grade in a 30 minute wait at the swim club??? Anyway, these ladies were worse than the "double trouble" and "I'm so sorry" people. If a you see mom of multiples (or a special needs child or anything out of the ordinary) please don't act like she is a travelling zoo. I felt like I was on display. Not once did they try to talk TO me...yet I am sure they will go home and call me the unfriendly *itch.
First I would have told her fertility drugs were not how you got your blessings, That the Lord knows who will be good parents and he knew you you had it in you to take on double the load.

Second I would have done to them what they were doing to you. Example: Oh honey Mommy knows you want a chair your size but those big people were here first.

maybe I would have video taped them and their wonderful habits on my phone. If they asked what I was doing I would have said " oh taping rude people in public is how I make my living, did you know how many people would love to see this on YouTube?"

I am a fraternal. My brother is 4 minutes older than me. Our sister is 7 & 1/2 years younger than us.

Noting that we *are* just joking when we tell folks that William (my brother) was the only child planned. I came along for the ride, and Heather (younger sister) was the result of 7 1/2 years of russian roulette.

My mother had problems with OCP's and headaches.

Making those notes above, my mother couldn't figure out *what* was going on with my little sis when Heather *was* little, because Heather kept asking to go over to so-n-so's to play, or could so-n-so come over, etc, etc. One of mother's friends told her "That's normal for a single child. You just didn't have to worry about it with your first, because your first was two."

My mother was 21 when she had us, my father was 34. Mother has told us several times that there were occasions where my father would come home, William and I would be in the high chairs crying, mother would be on the floor crying, and whatever she was trying to feed us would be all over the kitchen. My father would clean us up, get us to bed, then clean mother up and get her to bed.

I do cat rescue, and have done bottle babies. But I am *not* a child person. And I freely admit it. I sometimes get folks who ask me why I don't have children, because I do so well with the animals, I'd be great with children. My responses may range from:

"Well, with cats, if they upset you, you can lock them in a room with food, water, and a litterbox and it's legal."

"I consider babies as 'little bundles of crying skin' and if that ever changes, it'd be a consideration."

"If I did and I found out that I wasn't up for being a mother, are you going to take the child?"

Sometimes it takes folks a few moments to process the first two statements. The third statement shuts people up *fast* and they tend to never ask me again.

When Heather was in High School, she was taking a summer class in Bryan/College Station, and mother worked at a Kroger pharmacy (she's a pharmacist) at the time. Mother once had a customer drop off a prescription at the pharmacy, then head over to the deli that was nearby the pharmacy in the store. Heather was in the deli studying, the guy looks at Heather and basically goes "I just left the pharmacy, how did you beat me here?" Heather said "That would be my mother over there."

Talk about odd people....

Wow! I can't believe some people are so rude. I have a lot of respect for parents. We struggle to raise our children, teach our children and help them to live in a world that can sometimes be cruel. That's not an easy job. I have 3 girls and I always hear "So are you going to try for a boy?" No, I'm not. It's my husband's destiny in life to be surrounded by beautiful women and what man doesn't want that? is always my response. I think some people just don't understand what they're saying is going to affect someone else. I even have people ask me if my daughters have the same father because my oldest is 7 years older than my middle one! Granted, they look nothing alike because my oldest looks like me and the younger two look like DH who happens to be Asian, but what gives someone (let alone a stranger) permission to invade my personal life that way? I'm appalled that these ladies wouldn't get out of the chairs so your precious ones could play.

thats the part that stuck out for me, too

then the moment they started in with their conversation @ twins, I'd have said to the nearest one, "excuse me but could you please take your foot out of your mouth & your inordinately large butt out of that child chair so my child can sit in it as intended?"

that being said, there are always going to be ignorant people with NO manners...you can either speak up or learn to ignore them

This.

And that was your first clue that these were a couple of insensitive, ignorant !@#$^&*'s.

I guess I have been known to say "double trouble" on occasion, or "what a cute handful you have!", because IMO, two kids is definitely more of a handful than one.

I think twins are adorable.
