Yep, mine is the same way. Once the baby cries, I hear him walking up the stairs with him. I have to jump out of the shower and he hands hime to me. If I don't he will sit him on the bathroom carpet and walk out. Not very patient men! I have not had a good long shower in almost three months |

I like the advise of many of them --- MAKE him take care of the baby - lock yourself in the bathroom and take your shower - love the radio idea....go for it! I have to be honest, I was blessed, my hubby was a great "baby" dad - he did everything. We were a great team. He would even get up at night and help with feedings (on the weekends). However, I think it helps that we work split shifts (me days, him nights) so he HAD to be a hands-on dad, he had no choice, and he's done great. Good luck to all of you with these issues, I feel for ya! |

I have a DH that is helpful when he wants to be! I do get to take showers and go out and do things but I had an obsession with playing Bingo and well I would get a call after being gone for about an hour when are you going to be home I can't take it for much longer. Please hurry/ I was BF so I knew I had about 2 hours of spare time! Now that the baby is 18 months old it is a lot different DH takes him and wakes up with him on the weekends a lot! He doesn't like to give him baths though and that really annoys me. Ok I am done. Sorry you didn't get your shower |

| I think it is a Southern expression, comes from the old "call" from the preacher at the end of a church service or revival where, if you saw the error of your ways you would "come to Jesus", come to the altar and be saved! My momma said this too! All DH need this sometimes...IMO, just some more than others. My SIL tells about her DH coming home with a list, when she had 3 under the age of 5, telling her he was stressed and needed time to do some things on his own, like to to the gym, play tennis, have some quiet time. She didn't say a word, just went in the bedroom and came back out with her own list. 1. I would like to go to the bathroom by myself without someone standing at the door yelling under it "whatcha doing momma, #1 or #2? 2. Wanted to take a shower by herself or "gasp" a tub bath. 3. Sit down in a chair, have someone else cook and serve her dinner, and not get up to get something for someone else, or clean up after someone else, and actually get to eat her dinner somewhere other than on the run or in the car. 4. Go to sleep one night a week at 10:00 p.m. and not have to sleep with one ear alert, and not have to get up with various children in the middle of the night, and not have to get up at all until 8:00 a.m. 5. Get to go to the grocery store by herself. Needless to say he came to Jesus and was much more helpful. |

OH, I always lock the door otherwise, DH likes to just pop in and possible think he's gettin lucky in the shower/bath with me. Or he says he just wants to talk to me and comes in and pulls the curtain back and gets an eyeful. Gross, no thanks! not happening!

:goodpost2:Lol DH tried that once when I was in the shower with DS. I put DS at the back to play with some toys then at the end of the shower I was going to wash him. Well DH jumps in and thinks he is going to get lucky. I am like are you kidding me. Granted DS was only like 8 months old and would have had no idea what we were doing but there would be no way I would. DH always comes in the bathroom with DS and says whats mommy doing and pulls back the curtain so DS can see I am taking a shower. I have to start locking the door that is a good idea. Oh we are also trying the putting DS to bed and letting him cry. Well he will usually only go about 15 min but DH can't stand to hear him cry so after 5 min (maybe 10 but no more) DH will go in and get him and bring him to me in bed and then go down stairs to watch TV. I'm like well if it bothers you so much then you take him. They are all just big babies...Like I need another one to take care of. |

Ok, since we are all telling the stories of how DH takes care of the kids.... I know that just about everytime I go somewhere, my DH will either put the kids in their carseats or in the double stroler in the middle of the yard. He is usually working on something outside and he says that if they are strapped in, then he knows they aren't going to get hurt or wander off. Luckily they don't mind too much. He does give them toys or snacks and they are together so they laugh and giggle. At first it really bothered me, but then I realized that they sit in carseats longer than that when we go to Grandma's house. At least I know they're safe. |

OMG ladies.....that is too bad...you all deserve a break and that is selfish of your men to deny you that. I would not put up with that crap. I will try not to brag...but I have the best man ever. He is great with our son....I am the one who wants to hurl when he ralphs, not him! But seriously that is totally unfair to you ladies and I wish more men would step up and take care of their responsibilites. I like the idea of locking the door! |

First of all instead of a shower, you need to take a nice long hot bath with lots of bubbles, of course with your door locked and like Emily said radio up high....then after your nice long hot bubble bath then you need to get dressed and go out with the girls, and no cell phone...Then maybe you can always end up with a night cap with the girls too...Then your hubby can make a bonding with your little one....
