| How long can you keep paying a closed account and not know it?
As of today, I will keep better records of my checking account!! ![]() I can't even say how long this has been going on. Because I don't know. For over the last year my cable keep getting cut off! I would go online to Directv and look at my statement. Shows I havn't paid in 2 MONTHS!! No way. So I would pay it on the Directv web site. I have called and told them "But I did make my payment". Of course thats what we all say. Again at 6am got up turned on the TV. Off. Dratts. Didn't I just go thru this a month ago. Nowing that in early April I set up auto pay thru my bank. Now every week it sends out a $15.00 payment. At bill time I should be paid. Tried to call, to early. Just paid it. Came to work and looked at my bank account, sure enough Yeap. Money sent when it was suppose to. Then like a slap on the head, I SAW IT! WRONG ACCOUNT #. My DD used to live with me. I just kept her Directv after she moved. Got tired of it, so I turned it off for about a year. Then had it turned back on. BUT, never changed the account # in my bank account. So for no telling how long, or how many times I have sent payments to the wrong #. Kicker is they keep it! Don't return it as 'account unknown" or 'refuse payment account not opened'. NO, it just floats around. FOREVER!!!!!!!! Now the trick is to get it back. I know of $90.00 I can prove. But how many other times and how much I have paid? No wonder I never have any $. The nice lady on the phone said she was sending it to someone who may be able to find out. Why can't they trace back to when the account was closed and refund all $$ paid after that. Why didn't I notice I was double paying my Directv bill??????? I gotta slow down and get my stuff straight. I gotta keep better records!! I am so mad at me, and at them for not saying 'Hey stupid, quite paying a closed account and pay your account!'

I think we all do things similar to this. I hope you get your money back. I never had any good dealing with directv when I have had a problem-but my brother has complained about service and them shutting it off when he has paid and he has gotten free tv many times. Either they cut the monthy bill in half or he has gotten money off each month or free channels. Which he does ask for the supervisor to solve his problems-he won't even waste time talking to the service person. HTH

wow that is scary I must say I am usually right on top of all the bills seems if I am not they will eat me alive but I would call them and verify all payments and when they dont have the payments you have ask if you can read off what info the bank has for the posted payment making sure to include the account # there or not they will see where the mistake is when it is not your account # and refund it

You know I did that with my electrical bill.. i moved from an apt to a house and there was a month overlap so I had to pay two powerbills... well the first month I dropped back to just 1 powerbill.. i pay the house bill using the apt account number.. Luckily they called and we got it straightened out... I hope you can get your money back!! |

I recently cancelled my Directtv to go with Charter and was astounded when they told me that they didn't want any of the Directtv equipment they had put in our house (satellite, tivo box, cable boxes, remotes), they only wanted the HD box we paid $200 for at Best Buy!!! Come to find out even though I bought the darn box for $200, I was only "leasing" it from them..does it make any sense that I would pay to lease an HD box from a company that I wasn't going to have forever!! Sure hope they credit you your money back soon!!

Call your bank and say the deductions were not authorized from your account and that you just caught it. If you been banking with them a long time pay a personal visit... I had been paying for columbia movie dvds club for 10 months (receiving no movies either),,, and the bank refunded ALL that had been withdrawn from the account. I called Columbia House and they said I was correct I had been paying for movies I never ordered or received...

That stinks! It makes you wonder why they can't figure these things out. Years ago, I had a phone hooked up in the new apartment I move into and hadn't had a bill in a long time. I called them up to find out why I wasn't being billed and they told me they didn't know my address to send the bill. I was like, Um, you had my number, you couldn't CALL me and ask? Plus there's got to be some record somewhere that matches phone numbers to addresses. DUH. Then they had the nerve to tell me my account was past due and needed to be paid in full (a few months' worth of bills) like it was MY fault. Sometimes you just have to wonder how these things happen!

My DS told me to go to the bank to. And tell Directv that I would sue the if they do not get it straight. Thankfully some of the bills were paid thru there website. Just can;t understand why I allowed this to go on so long! I'm not crazy, just busy. When a bill shows due I just go online and pay it. Time to slow down.
