Ok I have read on here plenty of times,and heard from others how Walmart gives such a hard time with coupons. I don't like Walmart as it is, but when I hear of a good deal. I think about going, but it is not worth it to me to go. I get enough through cvs, wags( which haven't gone in a while), and harris teeter, bi-lo. Etc. so I don't go. Well, I buy supplies for my job. So I needed to go in there today. I decided to come on here and see if there was any good deals going on. Since I was already going. Well I saw the deal for ivory soap. So I decide to get 3. Now mind you, I had about $150 worth of stuff in my cart along with the soap. After ringing everything up. I hand her my 3 pitiful coupons. She proceeds to put on her glasses and read them! Then she scans one, of course it goes through. Then scans the second one. Then I am waiting for total, but she decides to read again the third coupon. I ask her if I handed her the wrong coupon. She says no, then " did you get the trial size ?". I say, " no, it's the same as the other coupons. And that they are huge bars of soap". She decides to scan it then says, " we'll it went through".
Of course it does, it was for the right product!!!! I do not need someone so rude. It is not worth it. Therefore, after everything I knew, I still tried. I should have just left it alone.
Good luck to all of you , but me , I will stick with my coupon loving cvs!!!!

Yup, some cashiers are like that... It is very annoying when they assume you are trying to scam them.... Ugh!

It does get excessive sometimes... But they are doing their jobs... Believe me I have been there a time or 2 myself... But not everyone is as honest as us AFCers and they just need to cover themselves... I just profile my cashiers and select the one that looks the most friendly... As much as we know what were doing most often times than not they don't...!!! I just enjoy the discounts and freebies... And if I have to stand a few minutes more in line for them... Its worth it...!!!

That is so true about profiling your cashier's just to have a less stress filled day. Although sometimes there isn't many great choices. Sometimes its the time of day that matters as well. Pick a day in the week that will have better cashiers. Cashiers that work on weekends are THE WORST. They are more likely going to lie, not scan and pretend they scanned your coupons, make you wait, bring a buddy for back up arguments, make mistakes and blame it on you, and make up policies. I prefer not going through my weekends dealing with all of that.

I guess I just live in happy coupon land as I have only had 3 terrible expierences in the 10 months That I have been couponing...!!! I never really have major trouble couponing...!!! I actually get along great with the managers at the stores I frequent... I have even exchanged numbers with the manager at my local CVS that will call or text when she is marking down clearence...!!! Or other managers that encourage couponing and want me to teach their wives...!!! I say come move next door to me... And we can be coupon buddies... And not have such bad expierences...!!!

My Walmart was super bad! Now they all know me and I don't have such a hard time there any more. I was going to quit Walmart altogether, but I didn't I kept at it and now I have a couple of the managers that pay me to shop for them or will buy things out of my stockpile!!

BUT before I got to know them and they got to know me...IT WAS H>E>L>L and that's the nice way of putting it!

I will (when in a bad mood) say with a smile on my face "I'm sorry your so incompetant, maybe you can call someone who knows how to do your job better than you, who can fix this little tiff and I can be on my way!" STILL SMILING...EVEN BIGGER NOW!!!! I might even throw in a few extra blinks with my long eyelashes...who knows that's the mean sarcastic part of me that comes out while I am couponing in unfriendly territories!!

That is when I make sure and call a manager over! I coupon alot and i found a Walmart where manager and csm coupons and they get all my business!

The manager does make all the difference! I have a manager who actually wants couponers. He asked me if his Walmart was the only store I shopped. I told him honestly that no, I go to several stores to get the best deals. He asked what he could do to get all of my business. We talked about price matching and the other issues I had in the past using coupons. I've never had a problem again.

Forget corporate, don't bother with the csm, if you can get directly to the manager you might be able to change things around. Also, profiling cashiers is KEY! I agree not shopping on the weekend is also better if you can do it.

Word. Especially true when dealing with WM; forget HQ and deal with salaried/upper store management to iron out issues. If the management does not act to resolve issues or worse you perceive them as hostile to couponers, then you'll know what to expect each time you go there.

just like any retailer, we just have to find the right match for us as OP found a good match in her CVS, I'm pretty sure others have their favorite retailers also.

couponing is hard work in itself, we have to be persistent and determined if we want the savings.

Thats just it. I have a great relationship with all other stores. Heck I tell them what deals are coming up. Share my copies etc,.. In fact , it actually got my daughter a Jon at CVS. But she tells on me when I go to another CVS'. I guess that's why it's not worth it for me. I get plenty of deals elsewhere. But thanks for all your advice. It is all true

This is the first Walmart that i have had troubl with. New here in the Sandhills of NC, I was very shocked at the way I was treated for using coupons. They have actually not taken many of my coupons because as they put it 'it has to be exactly like in the picture'...it is sooooo aggrivaiting! I have not tried to deal with management yet. I guess I figured that the cashiers were getting their psyco ideas from someone above them. Every blue moon they don't scrutinize my coupns and everything is a dream - like tonight - of'course only one coupon for my daughters camp stuff - but like Chrisnsal at the beginning of this convo - i love my wags! Infact, I was in there today grabbing coffee and my cashier told me she missed me!! I have been out of work, so couponing has been for the needs right now, but it was sweet to hear that from my cashier!! Don't think that I will ever get that nice of a reception from walmart.

Young MALE cashiers are the best! Always! Old ladies are the worst! I hear you though on cashiers... sometimes they just downright suck, not only at WM but other places as well. It's like they think you don't read anything at all... if they only knew the amount of time I spend clipping... honestly...

I agree about the old ladies being the worst cashiers for couponing. Yesterday I went to go get some feminine products and the lady just looked at me like "omg really?" Then she wanted to argue with me about the product and what was on the coupon.. I think I will be avoiding that one when I go shopping. Sheesh.

I love my walmart, they are great at price matching, they all have been trained in coupons and they don't hassle you with them.
I have even had them tell me about other deals that other people have done, if you have good cashiers you can know when clearance markdown is happening.

Sorry that the rest of you are having such a hard time at your walmarts, I guess that it is a training issue.

You are right about young male cashiers are the best and old ladies are the worst! There's one cvs store in our area with old ladies cashier and they are always grumpy when i hand them my coupons. One time, i checked out with 6 items and hand her 6 coupons. The old lady said "so many coupons for just 6 items? then she reads the coupons, called the supervisor and argue that my coupon is wrong because the item im getting is not in the picture. When the supervisor said ok, the lady kept mumbling "this is not right" while scanning my coupons. Of course my coupons rang up smoothly and I paid only tax after coupons and ecb. I then thanked her with a BIG SMILE and leave. What a grouchy old woman! Lol
