Whoa, bad manager

I went to DG this afternoon (a special trip to take advantage of the $5 off $25 coupon. I checked out and it was clear that the clerk had very little training on coupons. He tried to scan all of my coupons. They all scanned except the $5 off $25. He messed around and finally told me my total was 27.07. I remarked that the total was higher than I anticipated but with 3 customers waiting in line, I paid and went to the parking lot. I sat in the car and looked over my receipt and the $5 off $25 did not come off. At the bottom it said total saving: $12.80 (the amount of coupons I had without the $5). I went back in and the "manager" came up. He took my receipt and tried to tell me that the -.50 (DG coupon 1.00 off 2 lysol wipes) and the -1.16 (difference between the regular price and the sale price) were the register taking off the $5. I tried to explain to him that is not the way it works. He all but called me a liar and refused to acknowledge anything I was saying was correct (even the amount of coupons I used without that one!) I told him I would contact corporate and he said "I don't care".
I came home and emailed corporate.

I am thinking there was an issue today with the $5/$25 coupon because mine also did not work. The cashier and manager were both really nice but were unable to get it to go through so I ended up not doing my transaction

Wow, big surprise (yes I'm being sarcastic). I hate using q's at DG so much that after much thought (more than should be required), I decided not to go in and attempt to use the 5/25 q today. I already get such dirty looks every time I walk in and there is one particular manage, who seems to be there all the time, that always comes up to supervise my checkout every time she notices I'm there. Like I'm some kind of thief!! It's just not worth the stress......

I have had bad experiences with 2 local DG stores, they don't couponers shopping there!!!

I tried to coupon shop at DG but decided it just wasn't worth it. Every time I went in I was given a hard time. I just don't care to deal with the stress.

I got a phone call from the GM of that DG today. She apologized for the treatment I received and told me to stop in and she would give me a $5 gc. She was very nice and respectful.

The reason your $5 might not have came off is that it isn't supposed to be used with other DG coupons.

I've never had any issues using the $5/$25 with MQs. I always hand over the $5/$25 first then the MQs. If you watch their card scanner, it will show STORE DISCOUNT for however many items you have when they scan it. That's how you know it's came off.

I'm glad you got it worked out. My local store is very coupon friendly and I've found that corporate is too.

Definitely hand your $5/$25 first. I always give that first while hanging on to my mq's. Once they scan that I'll hand over my mq's.
