| Has anyone dealt with nastiness behind you in line?
Just wondering if any of you had to deal with people behind you in line getting nasty because the coupons etc take extra time? How did you deal with it? I was at Cvs 2 days ago- I didn't have a pile of stuff- maybe 7 items- the issue was that I had a 4 off 20.00 coupon and the register wouldn't take it- I had just printed it! (also for some reason anything I had sent to card - like the 25% off would not come up for them) so a manager had to be called- they only had one lane open. Older Lady behind me started complaining LOUDLY. She was obviously not from around here- looked like jersey shore exploded on on her. I just ignored her- my natural instinct is to whip around and not be so kind and maybe make a comment about all the booze in her cart and orange fake tan- but since I go there a lot i don't want to be known as THAT LADY. So I but my tongue and waited patiently. How do any of you deal with people like that? |

LOL! No, luckily I haven't. I live in a small town and MOST people are fairly easy going. They usually just tell me they don't mind and that I'm doing a great job saving money. Actually, last week I had to run to RA to pick up some Gerber baby food with a RC. I didn't even have any Qs so I figured it would be quick so I had DH stop when we were going somewhere. After 15 mins he came in to see what was taking so long. (The cashier had to manually enter the price for each one and I had 18 of them!), and on top of that she was just slow. There was an older man having photos printed and was chatting with me while we both waited. My H finally went back out to the car and kept looking into the store impatiently. The older man thought it was hilarious! He kept commenting and saying how RA should give my H an award about having to wait so long. LOL! After 35 mins I finally got out of there. |

One day at walmart this guy behind me started complaining that I wanted to save $2 and was taking his time when he was loosing $100 for the same amount of time. I turned around and smiled and said every penny counts theres other lanes. Little did he know I was saving 100% but don't recall what I was getting. What an idiot!

He also said that he saw on tv that people bought things with coupons on tv, and that laws are different in Mississippi. That basically I am breaking the law by paying with coupons. Omg . I only had about 10 items in my cart.

At CVS I always tell the cashiers to let others behind me go if I'm doing multiple transactions. They usually have someone that can open another register so I've never had a problem at CVS. At walmart price matching takes a while, coupons as well but I've never heard anyone say anything. If someone did I would just smile and say sorry, I try to save as much money as I can.

thanks Guys luckily I only had one transaction- this lady was a tourist, most people around here are pretty laid back. I had the fortune of being in front of the oomph loompa. Maybe I could get a card made to put on the belt- "pick another lane" This was the first time anyone has said anything. I had 45 q's at Walmart my first trip. Only tooke 6 hours in the store |

I don't deal with it...I just tune people out if they start to get nasty but it's really rare. When it's my turn this is my time. If I waited in line patiently then I think when it's my turn I should be allowed to it.. Mind u I do try to limit my transactions to just 2 maybe 3 if I really have to but not too often. Don't let people like this get to you, I think they are just jealous because they have no idea how to safe $$$$.. I feel good when I walk out of a store paying just taxes on a whole bunch of items where other people are paying full price |

Too bad you didn't have a coupon for her fake tan stuff- you could have offered it to her and then let it go. rude people have no place in my life. I waited patiently for the people in front of me, have my coupons ready and waiting, have them paper clipped and the ones that are "free" I tell the cashier as they ring it up- so they can write the price in. I the line is long and I have multiple transactions I will finish one and move to the side. I do try to stay away from the cashiers that don't do coupons often, they hold up the line sometimes when they do not know what to do. The manufacturers give us the coupons to use, if others don't that is there loss not mine. I do make sure that I do not "run" out to the car- this seems to happen a lot at my CVS- don't know why- they wait in line start ringing up then say they will be right back..... |

I had a guy tell me they should have a special check out for "you coupon people"! I said please I've been asking, go tell CS what a great idea that is, then I don't have to deal with all you "money people". |

A coupon line sounds like heaven... I have a rather large hearing loss so people have to be really obnoxious before I will notice. In fact a fellow customer has only been the issue one time. This was at Walmart after I had already been waiting in line for about ten minutes for a CSM to come over a guy comes up and starts moaning and groaning about what is taking so long. So the other guy that was waiting behind me (he wanted to see what happened ) notes that the lane light was off when he came over and that "should have been an indication to anyone but complete morons to pick another lane". After the moron left the other customer and I busted out laughing. The cashier was more like ![]() A couple of times managers have pointed out that for multiple transactions I should go to the back of the line between each transaction. I have no problem doing that, if fact I usually will unless I have a gem of a cashier and know the other cashier options are horrible. The really weird part about that is that the manager will say that and then insist that it is ok for him/ her to continue ringing me up 'this time' and that 'they just wanted to be sure I knew that for the future'. It isnt like I was insisting they do it or anything so I have no idea what that's about. And it isnt with any one particular manager or store (or chain eve). People can be so weird. |

Haha I haven't met any impatient people...yet The people at RA love me, and today i actually ran Into another couponer haha, his wife sent him with a list to get the deals of the week. I also let people to ahead of me when I do multiple transactions, but most of the time they're not busy so I can do them one after another. Actually when the jergens MM deal was going on I was telling the cashiers about it while I checked out. After getting like 18 or so. They had a bin full which made me happy. There was one indirect incident in Tops which I just laughed a little on the inside. The guy saw me getting my coupons together and splitting my transactions so he went to another line. The lady behind him had no problems with what I was doing. I think my age might help me a little, and I also sometimes offer coupons to people too if I feel like it's taking awhile. (especially since some of the registers can't scan the new coupons, almost feel bad for the cashier when I get those, or sometimes the IPs need to be manually typed in) Well my age helps except when the manager's like five years older than me and doesn't know the policy *cough cough*

Yes, I deal with nastiness all the time. What is wrong with people? Why are they so ulgy? And why are they in such a rush? Its awful. And I always offer for someone to go ahead of me, and I always go to the back of the line if I am doing more than 1 transaction. Its the worst thing about couponing.

I've had it a couple times! Had one lady that was really nasty behind me once - I offered to let her pay for my groceries. She called me a not so nice name and grabbed her stuff off the belt and went to another line. I looked over an laughed at her as I was leaving - she was still waiting in line! Karma baby!

I have had a few negatives too but the best happened with my older son in tow. He was 7 at the time and a lady behind me was huffing and puffing and complaining loudly about how long my coupons were taking. My son piped up and said " My mama is just working hard to save our family money, try some manners and mama might share her coupons with you" Then he looked at me and asked "Mama, did her mama forget to teach her manners, or did she forget?" The cashier died laughing and so did I. To top it off, the lady dropped her wallet and my son handed it back to her. She just looked amazed when he said "Here ya go Ma'am" I guess manners in children and being reminded by such small members of society to use them is shocking.

I haven't had anyone complain out loud YET, but I have noticed that when I'm shopping by myself with coupons, some people usually give me the eyes (even though I'll have 6-10 items, if not less). It depends on if the cashiers have issues with the coupons or if they tell me something like "you aren't allowed to use 1 target q and 1 mq at the same time" -- I inform/try to educate them otherwise, etc. With it being warmer now, the little girl that I watch (9 months) - we've gone into Target with coupons and no one says anything!! It's a little different when you're trotting a baby in a stroller using coupons vs. just me by myself couponing. Anyone encounter anything like this? People acting differently when you're by yourself or when you've got a little one with you? |

I went at 10 pm to Dillons (Kroger owned) last week during the buy 6 get 6.00 back deal so I had a good basket but was all organized. They only had 1 lane plus self check open. An older man got behind me in line (70's or so) and they told him to go to self check but he said no and that he didn't mind waiting. He was chatting with me about how I know what is on sale, etc. I started giving coupons so wasnt paying attention until I realized there was a guy in his 30s behind the older man saying to other customers real loud 'don't get in this line unless you have all night because she has coupons' and comments like that. As I was getting ready to say something, the older man turned around and said "you are just jealous that you can't save as much money as she is so you can wait quietly or go to self check". The guy went to self check. I about doubled over laughing right then!!! I gave the man on of my 'free' items and he was thrilled.
