| cheap q-tips... what is the deal!
not q-tips... cotton swabs. I have used the dollar general & target brands in financial pinches, and I stupidly got some from dollar tree because I was there and needed some. OUCH. When I put them in my ear, it gave me real pain. Why is this? Not enough cotton? Chemicals on it? I have to wet the qtip so I can clean my ear without pain. I will never ever buy these again! |

I don't have an answer... but I will never buy them. I did one time and hated them... it's one of those item's that I can't buy generic of!

Maybe not enough cotton. I got some generic last year and DH said never get anything but Q-Tip brand. I don't personally use them since the last time I did ended up having to get my ears irrigated at the Dr office.

I get some at Dollar Tree that suit me just fine. I've used cheap ones from other stores though so I know where you're coming from. FYI - Dr. Oz says to never use Q-Tips! |

I would LOVE to get my ears cleaned professionally. I'm not on any insurance yet, but when I am... I must see a specialist! I know I have a buildup, I can't hear very well!

I tried the not cleaning my ears thing and all it did was make things worse. I was itchy and it was painful. I use q tips, but gently. I do not go in there digging. I think that is the biggest problem is that people want it so clean they draw blood.

| Try one of those Murine ear cleaning kits...they're easy and work well. Just a thought.

| Probably not enough cotton. I doubt there are 'chemicals' on cotton swabs. I only had to buy the cheapies once to know I'd never do that again! They're just not worth the savings IMO!

Definitely not enough cotton. I too have experienced this. Luckily we rarely use cotton swabs, so our stockpile lasts a long time.

| The kit has some drops that you put in your ear and then you lie on your side for 10 minutes or so as it loosens the wax and then you use the bulb syringe with some warm water to flush it out. It's easy to do kneeling by the side of the bathtub. I have to do it every few years...and it works well for me. Some folks swear by using some hydrogen peroxide and flushing it out - but I haven't had any luck with that method. Good luck! Looks like this: Murine Eye and Ear Care |

I can't stand generic Q-tips, but one time I was at Aldi and realized I had run out of Q-tips and decided to buy some of their brand. I figured if I didn't like them, it was only $1.29 (I think, ) wasted. Well lo and behold, the Aldi Q-tips are GREAT! The sticks are nice and sturdy, there's plenty of cotton, and the cotton doesn't fall off! |

. Anyway, long story short, my daughter's ENT suggested a product called "Debrox" to remove wax... I asked her about the peroxide, and she said it works great as long as the wax isn't too hardened (and it cleans the ears). I have used both with my kids and myself, and have been satisfied. The peroxide is much cheaper, but the Debrix lasts forever. Just a FYI... And I'll have to try the Murine kit next time. Thanks for the tip!

| I would die. Literally, one of the best feelings in the world to me is cleaning my ears. Do it everyday.. sometimes twice a day.
