| Ranting my Soul away First time this has happened to me and i wanted other people to help me out. OMG I was totally streaming after this encounter that i just had to write down my horrible experience with everyone. Sorry its a little long and might have some typos. <3 On monday went to a rite aid near my mom's old job (first time going there) and the UP said "already used" so i explained to the cashier what was happening so she called over the manager. And the shift manger came over and i explained to her that I was getting duplicate UP's on the deal and she understood and WAS going to put them in manually but she wanted to get the OK from the manger who i guess was on break or something. When the manger came she explained to him that i was getting duplicates UP's and the UP's were saying already used. He was like "oh I know why its b/c its limit 1 she can only get 1 for FREE thats why she is getting duplicates" and i'm like "well it doesn't state that in the AD and he is like "yes it does" and Im like "show me then". And He pointed to where the "limit thing that USED to be under the "FREE sign in the AD" " and i was like "well that says that i have to pay taxes" and he looked again and was like "oh" but it says limit 1 in the TAG and i'm like "oh does it now. can you show me that then" We go to where the crest tags are and he starts to look the tag over from HEAD to TOE and i'm like "well where does it say that?" He was like "it does just hold on". I'm like "well all these OTHER tags (other random tag for other things) do not state anything about limit 1". And I told him if there was a limit how is the customer supposed to know if it does not state so in the AD. He just did not know what to come up with next EXPECT that i was in other words "shelf clearing" which i wasnt i was getting 10 crest toothpaste and there was 18 left. and he was like well i can not let you be "special" and take all the items you want b/c I have other custumers who are going to buy some and i'm like "WTH" i did not take all of it, dont you see that there is ENOUGH left for other people to come and buy some if they want. Seriously why accuse me of something i am totally not doing. what a freak of nature. Anyways he starts talking about the limit again and i'm like well "FIRST you start saying there is a limit in the AD and there isnt, next you said the tag shows the limit but it doesnt.... so how am i supposed to know that there is a limit?" and he says well (looking at the ad) still saying there is a limit and i got so mad and said well if you want to see something that has the limit 1 its the pepsi and showed him.he didnt care. he just started reading the FINE PRINT OF THE LAST PG where is says they have a right to limit blah blah... >.> i'm like are you serious now WTH... and he told me "well i can only sell you 1". i tell him (PISSED of now) to void my trans, i just dont want them anymore. We go back and it looked like he was voiding the trans but didnt give me back my UP's that i was paying with back and he starts to scan the crest and 1 of my up's and he did it 5 times and im thinking (ok maybe he is voiding my trans?) next thing he says is "well i will let you buy 5" and im like (WTH are you serious)... I said i dont want it anymore just void my trans and give me back my UP's. And before I left i told him if there is a limit to post it b/c the customer doesnt know. and that i was going to call corp. Which I haven't yet. I just do not know what to do. I totally what to call but i do not know what will happen if i do? Any advise? |

Call customer service. I'm not sure why people call it "corporate", but...... Bear in mind that store managers DO have the right to limit quantities and, while it's never happened to me, it states it right on their coupon policy. As far as the limit thing goes, I do agree that they need to be more clear as to what those limits are and that's something you can pass on to customer service. |

The problem is that he said that the AD said there was a limit and I proved him wrong. Then he back tracks and says that the TAG says its limit 1 as well and it doesn't so i proved him wrong again. And finally he says he has the right to limit it to whatever he wants. And that wasn't the issue we was talking about at the beginning. He just did not know what to come up with. Thats the problem. That he just made him his mind that he wasn't going to sell me anything EXPECT for 1. |

I have to agree with others, if 18 was left of the stock for the week, buying ten and leaving eight for the rest of the customers is unfair. The manager has the right to limit the amount of one item brought from their store. Even though you proved him wrong on his words, it is his right to limit your purchase as advertise on the ad. I know it is frustrating but he was willing to work with you at the end. It is hard to see his side of the story while you are fuming out of your ears. Sorry this has happened to you. I never had any problems with my Rite Aid.

I know how it feels when you go in thinking you will be able to get a deal, do a scenario, and come out with lots of product and way ahead on Ups. It's really frustrating when everything you have planned out is not working out. However, I think PP are correct. They are allowed to have limits on the product, regardless of whether the product produces an Up, or is a good deal. It is stated/posted on the back of every ad. He may not have known the limits on Ups were recently lifted/relaxed, and so was going by what previous sales had been (limit 1). Instead of just denying you the purchase, he took the time to read the ad, look at the tags, and then offered to let you buy 5 (which was almost 20% of the stock). He wasn't just "accusing" you of shelf clearing, he was stating the obvious. Not even two more customers could get the same amount as you wanted to purchase. If he let you purchase ten, he would have had several unhappy customers (who couldn't buy the product), not just one (you). If you do in fact call customer service/corp, and they find out that the manager offered to let you purchase five in the end, and you refused, that won't look very good on your part. They likely won't do anything. What would the purpose of the call be then? If you say you were denied purchasing what you wanted, but were in fact offered five? Or perhaps the manager was wrong on the limit of the Ups, but was right on the limiting of product sales? Was he rude? Maybe, but it doesn't sound like you were very nice to him either. Either way, it won't matter much since you refused to purchase anything. |

I kinda agree with you and people. The first problem was about the UP not scanning... Well how are we supposed to know that the up will not scan/sayduplicate if you purhase more than one? it didnt say that anywhere on the tag/ad. SO you aew right about that. You should be able to use them anyways. I would call corporate about that, they will send you new ones. About the limits tho, the store manager does have the right to limit quantaties. So in the end he still offered you 5, and since you didnt take it, I think you have no leverage with that when you call CS. HOWEVER, you got really frustrated with the GM, and he let you one a goose chase, which is why I understand whhy you left. Maybe tell that to CS when you call |

One day at RA I had some Ups to use. When they were scanned they beeped and the register prompted the cashier they had already been used. (The same message as the OP.) The manager came over and told her she has to be careful and make sure to only scan it ONCE past the scanner. he explained to her that sometimes if it waves by the scanner as they pass by it to swipe it will do that. I hope I explained that well. It was understandable as he was doing the movements explaining it to her. The manager at my RA is the coolest and one of the most competent store managers Ive ever come across. I doubt very much it was something he was making up.

The thing is if there was a "LIMIT" then it should have been posted so EVERYONE could see it .Do you think this limit would have been enforced if she went in there and bought 10 toothpastes without coupons and didn't care about the Ups? Probably not. I can understand why the OP is so frustrated but I do not think a call would make any difference... unless you suggest that they should have to display limits if they are not included in the add. Sorry this happened to you.

ts not about the CS having the right to limit or not b/c i know they can. But its that he just led me on a goose chase like you said that's the problem here. And just an FYI to everyone else I left 18 on the SHELF and i saw about 8 more in a shopping cart parked alone somewhere. |

I did see you left 18. If you are buying 10. You leave 18 behind. So if 2 more shoppers came in to the store to buy 10 each both wouldnt be able to. Im sorry if Im reading self defensiveness in your replies if its not there. I dont think you have a need here to get defensive. I have not and I dont think anyone means to sound harsh with you. Sometimes reading words without seeing expression and hear tones can come across not as intended.

I think calling the corporate office is the best thing, so you can know what the actual policy is.
