| SIL strikes again!
I just don't know what is up with her!!! We live in the same neighborhood and we used to go trick-or-treating with their kids (cousins). The first couple of years we would call them up to basically ask if we could go together. We would meet them at their house. The whole time we are out with the kids she is having a quiet fit since not all the kids are going to the house that she wants...I really don't know what her problem was. Then 3 years ago DH calls and says we will meet them at the end of the block. So they start off the other way around the block. So...we never see them...(planned, don't know). The next 2 years we have just been going with our neighbors that live close by. This year she invites hers and DHs sister with their kids. Did she see if we all (cousins) would want to go together? NO! I just saw her the day before plus I saw her husband and the kids earlier that day. We didn't tell DS that this all went on but my DH was mad! All the kids run to the door and DH was speachless. I just don't know why you would treat your niece & nephew this way. I could just cry! They are the godparents too! Last edited by lovedisney; 11-03-2009 at 09:10 AM. |

It's bad enough to treat adults that way but it should be a crime to be hateful to children...so sorry! Family can be..uh...a PAIN

Sounds like you just need to let it go and move on. It would irritate me too if I was in the same situation, but its not worth it in the long run.

I can think the worst things in my head and sometimes I just say to myself, "STOP!" My personality is that I would just go to her house when you know it is just her (kids at school, napping, whatever) and say straight out, "What is the deal?" She can lie (and hopefully you can tell if she is) or hopefully, you will find out what the problem is. There has to be something going on or is she just just mean to others and disrespectful of their feeling all the time?

Hey my own sisters do that crap to me. One is very controlling, so once she can't control me, she moves onto my other sister who is a wimp and is obedient. Controlling people are like that, they just move on to new people to control once they find out they control you. Just ignore her and move on. life is to short to LET them ruin your time. Its hard I know but its her loss, not yours. Just think of it as it being less stressful for you by not having to deal with her on Halloween

Sorry you have to go through this with your family. But thanks for making my life easier (by forgetting about her and not letting her control us!)!! |

Family, you can't pick them, and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, right? I can sympathize, I have some thorny situations in my family tree. At the end of the day, you can't control what another person does, but you can control your reaction. It's terrible to treat little ones that way, but if nothing else it might be an opportunity to help them learn how to deal with situations like that as they get older.
