| Bully cashier!
I got bullied today because of the in-store coupons for no good reason! This is not the first time this guy has been a menace. A few months ago, he yelled at my baby boy for trying to grab the pen when it was clearly out of his reach. The thing that really infuriates me is that this guy wouldn't have said a word had it would have been my husband or a man! I am tired of this guy making me feel like a burden for shopping. I was so upset when I left that I sent a letter to corporate. Here it is. My time is very valuable to me. I would never waste a Saturday afternoon writing a letter of complaint, however, my experience today was so upsetting that I feel it is my duty to report the unfair treatment I received by your cashier, Frank. I visited your store today because of the weekly ad and in-store coupons. I had eight items to purchase so I went through the express line. I presented two in-store coupons to the cashier, Frank, before loading my items on the counter. Frank informed me that I wouldn't be able to use the in-store coupons because they require a $20 minimum purchase. He hadn't even begun to ring my purchases to see if this was an issue. I read the coupon again and told him that the coupon and ad clearly states that a "minimum purchase of $20 qualifies you for using ALL of the coupons". I wasn't using ALL of the coupons, I was just using two. He was very argumentative when he said, "ANY or ALL coupons, it doesn't matter, you have to spend at least $20 to get to use them." I disputed him again and told him that the $20 coupon purchase minimum does not state "ANY" it states "ALL". Big difference. He was making his own rules to the coupons! I asked him to try the coupons anyway to see if they would work. He refused to even try! He raised his voice to me and said, "listen lady, I've been taking these coupons all week and that's how they work". I knew this was a fabrication because I had just used them yesterday with no issues. There was a line forming behind me and I was getting very frustrated and embarrassed. Then he totaled my order and sure enough, it came out to $26.18! He took my coupons and said, "I guess it doesn't matter anyway because you spent more than $20". I replied, "well, I wasn't the one making the stink about it in the first place, it was you." He didn't offer an apology or admit fault. I left upset. I felt like I was bullied and humiliated in public for no good reason. Frank's attitude made it clear that he doesn't like people or his job and he makes sure that every customer knows this. I shop at this neighborhood store at least three times a week. I spend $10-$30 each visit. I doubt I will ever return. I feel that I will spare myself the emotional expense of being degraded and take my business to a place that actually values their customers and honors their own promotions.Thank you for letting me share my experience. I look forward to the unlikely resolution to this matter. Last edited by philomena83; 10-31-2009 at 11:05 PM. |

Wow, sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. Clearly this guy needs to improve his customer service skills, or look for some other form of employment. I can understand when a cashier will not accept the in-store coupon after ringing up my purchases if I didn't spend the required amount. What gets to me is that he didn't even ring up your purchases, so how the heck would he know that you couldn't use the coupon? I would be upset too, if that ever happened to me. Good for you for writing the letter and letting them know how you were treated. I hope it works out for you.
