Do you ever just meet someone or see someone on a forum and even though they've done nothing wrong, just the way they say things and the way they respond to anything that could be controversial, you really dislike them.

I'm totally having one of those moments.

It's really hard not to respond to threads that I would otherwise post in. Uggh.

Just a couple of times and one was banned for something, (don't remember why) and the other I adjusted to.

Yep, I hear you. I just stopped reading those certain people's posts b/c I got tired I reading their view of things.

Funny you should write this, Tinkadink! The other day I read a post that was, in my opinion, a bit harsh and I wanted to write something about the original post but decided against it because the offensive poster turned me off.

Ive had those moments too. Its hard to not write something but then you just know that if you do it wont serve any purpose so I just dont.

Im on another coupon forum as well and I must say its ALWAYS worse there. Its almost like there are certain people that just try to be offensive no matter what, Its strage people would put so much into being a jerk.

Yea it's just that I really like a certain forum and the person hasn't done anything wrong like in terms of rules but it's just like I know if I post anything they'll have something smart to say and I'm just too much of a people pleaser that it upsets me.

I used to be on babycenter a lot and I must say in comparison to that place, this is drama free.

I really like this site and am soo not going anywhere, i just like it when everyone gets along and it sours my milk when people try to start stuff :*(

If ever you feel that a post needs reporting just hit the report button...I've done so on several occasions. Nothing wrong with that.

i too have run into that before...I just quit reading anything they posted. And I never read any thread they ever started. Keeps me sane!

That is such a good policy! I have started to do that and I feel a lot better. Every once in a while though they pop up in another thread i'm interested in,

I haven't encountered that here (yet) but another site I frequent (not coupon related) is full of hotheads. I bite my tongue on a regular basis. Or, as a fellow poster from that site says, "I hold my tongue so often, you could get prints off it!"

I SO feel you! I've had someone respond to one of my posts with a holier than thou attitude like they knew everything. Then they had the nerve to tell me I was wrong in the situation. After retracing my steps I realized the cashier I was writing about was wrong and she had read my coupon wrong. I responded to the op to correct her, but who knows if she read the thread again. I'd also go as far to say that if you felt brave send the offensive poster a pm if they have responded directly to something you have posted in a negative way. I say if someone is going to be negative, then don't post at all. No one who's going through a rough patch needs someone else putting their negative 2 cents in the mix. Feel better!

anyway I know EXACTLY what you mean. Theres 1-2 posters that I always want to comment back with.... "I am sure you've been doing this forever but why do you have to act like a know-it-all and holier-than-thou and make people feel bad?" I especially feel that way when the OP was just trying to vent about a bad day or bad trip....everyone needs to vent now and then

but I take a big deep breath and hold my tongue. I don't think the poster I am talking about means any harm by what they say. It's still hard not to comment!

I've run into people like that, and I've probably been that person as well. Sometimes people just need to be put in check, including ourselves. If it's just someone's complete attitude and they are ALWAYS this way then I would say I agree with ignoring that poster. I've done it a time or two, she's no longer a member so I don't have to worry anymore.

If I ever sound that way don't be afraid to put me in check! I can take it!

Yes. I try to just click backwards or to ignore them, like I would in real life if somebody rubbed me the wrong way.
Don't let them rent space in your head for free. Every keystroke you give them takes time away from something positive you could be doing. (at least that's my philosophy )

I've had those moments, too. And I also came here from a baby board so AFC was like a breath of fresh air. The few people whose posts make me groan whenever I'd see them I either just don't pay attention to or luckily some have faded away and probably gone elsewhere. You know, sometimes it's a positive thing b/c I've caught myself writing a post sometimes that sounds a bit too much like one of those and re-thought it.

I think it's the nature of forums - can't see folks expressions just the words so it's easy to read them wrong. Or maybe it's just the nature of this many folks in one place with different 'world views' per se. But it happens, and relatively speaking AFC is an oasis of calm compared to many sites online .

I have my own gripe lately and it's so petty I think it must just be me being cranky. I hate it when wish lists are so long, so specific and not sorted the way my brain would like them to be (see, told you it was me) that I have to spend 3 times as long on someones WL to try to match q's for them than I would with a nice one or two page WL sorted, oh, alphabetically or by category! Yes, I just threadjacked to rant but I feel better now. I know we are all different and I know this is minor. If we let stuff like this really get to us what a cranky place this could be!!

I think that in forums at least, sometimes it is really hard to understand the tone people are "speaking" in. I am fairly sensitive and I have been offended by reading some things, but I know that probably 99% of the times, the person writing the words did not mean them the way that I took them. I don't respond or post a whole lot, at least not as much as some people, but I read a lot and have come across some posters that always have short and to the point, direct answers. This may be seen as rude, and maybe they are trying to be rude, or maybe that is just how they "speak." Either way, an online forum isn't really enough to get upset over so I try to not take anything too personally.

I admit that I get carried away (and not the way some folk wished) sometimes, But then it seems AFC jumps in and censors me. I freely admit that it is HARD for me to 'hold my tongue' sometimes.

I agree with what Waitin2flyaway said, it can be hard to determine how different people type and word things and decipher what they truly mean, or if they are being sarcastic.

OP- I used to belong to a tanning forum that was horrible. There was a particular poster who always had an attitude towards everyone! She ended up being banned.

I haven't ran into anything like that here, other than the disputes over what is lawful to do in couponing or not <=== at least thats the worst "fight" i recall reading. I know I don't post a ton, but I definitely read a lot, I just don't always have time to post, or mean to come back and do it later and forget ! It would definitely be discouraging to not post my opinions, for fear of what another member might say.
