| Probably last Tulsa store visit
Hi all--thought I'd share what happened at the Tulsa store today. I live in Okmulgee so I normally go to the Henryetta store 1/week, but was in Tulsa today & thought I'd grab a few things. I only had 4 items, 2 Keebler cookes (1.00 & 55c Qs), and I was prepared for them to tell me they wouldn't double one of them since they're from the same mfg), an Aleve and Grande chips. The lady did the coupons except for the last coupon, which happened to be the second $1 Keebler Q, when another lady came over and said they couldn't do that coupon because it was Keebler (these two were printables) and they had already done one. I said ok, I understand if you can't double it, so face value is fine w/me. She said No, we can't take more than one printable for the same company per customer/per day--that was the new policy. She said they are changing their policy because HL is just losing too much money (mentioned Catoose closing) and that they just had a big meeting to discuss how to handle it. I mentioned many of my Qs were from HL website, and she said I know, that may be changed too. She didn't say whether it was company wide or just the Tulsa store. I got a little frustrated since it wasn't a posted policy, but ended up just asking them to remove one Keebler cookie and taking the $1 Q instead of the 55c (duh). She said "all this is just 1.83, don't you want all of it". Well I had $2 out, but it was just the principle of the thing and I said no. Now in the end I paid 83 cents for 1 Keebler, 1 chips and the Aleve. The only satisfaction was that the $1 Keebler Q doubled fully! Sorry so long, but that will probably be my last trip to the Tulsa store. It's just too frustrating not knowing what's going to happen. I'm hoping the Henryetta store won't be the same. I've never had trouble w/anything there. I'm done griping. Have a blessed weekend! |

Sorry you had a bad time. I too have a store I try to avoid. I have three stores in my town. I found that one store is the best and am now shopping there. Some of the checkers there have told me they use coupons too! That makes it soooo much easier for me. So far I have not had any problems there.

Yeah, it really stinks ! I guess now that the Tulsa store is under the same management that was at the Catoosa store.......... will all their coupon customers disappear too ? So sad. That's a shame, because if HL runs off all their coupon customers, who could afford to shop there ? Hmmm........ wonder why Catoosa store didn't make it.... maybe not enough coupon shoppers ? There's way too many other stores that sell groceries a lot cheaper. Homeland can't compete, except with coupons. I sure hope corporate figures it out before too late for the last remaining Tulsa store. Last edited by philomena83; 11-03-2009 at 09:58 PM. |

I have been having issues at the Tulsa store also ....and I never used too until the catoosa store closed and those employees moved to the tulsa store. It shouldn't be a fight to use coupons when they advertise double coupons....if they don't want people using them, then why do the double them? Makes no sense to me. I sure hope they don't stop though...I can't even imagine not having doubles

Me too. It gives me a panic in the pit of my stomach........like taking away a childs' favorite toy. Couponing is my favorite hobby. Food Pyramid has the right idea, but they only double up to 50 cents. I'd shop there if they doubled up to 1.00. They have a lot more convenient locations around Tulsa than HL does. Maybe we should all get united and start sending Food Pyramid emails asking them to compete with Homeland's coupon policy ? Enough emails, and they might do it. ? There is strength in numbers. |

This is true in the other side of the state in the Clinton store. They say too many people are just making copies of the IP's, so they aren't taking more than one of the same IP due to fakes.

Decided to go to the Tulsa store last Thurs. night against my better judgement. The checker was nice but was reading every coupon and I could hear her talking under her breath (at this point I was bagging my groceries because my husband and kids were in the car and we were in a hurry) so I wasn't watching her as closely as I should have. I noticed she didn't double my Little Debbie cupcake coupon, so I made the comment "Oh why didn't that one double" and I couldn't believe what she told me. She said that I had cut off the part at the top that said Do Not Double. She said she gets the paper every Sunday and flips through the coupons and memorizes them so that she doesn't get in trouble at work. She also said that they are getting written up when they make a mistake over all of the coupons and doesn't want to lose her job over a dollar. I said no you shouldn't lose your job over a dollar, I agree. She was polite and I was also. When I got home and went over my receipt I was overcharged about $8 and I'm not sure if all the coupons were scanned. I need to remember to count them before I get to the register. I really need to just stay away from that store but sometimes it's the most convenient one to go to.

Amen to that!! Recently it has become more and more of a hassle to shop there. I really don't understand it at all. The attitudes of the cashiers SUCK! I swear Homeland must be holding my coupon amount of the cashiers paycheck or SOMETHING! Fine if you don't want to double if they say DND...but geez do you have to be so freaking cranky?!?!?! Get a job somewhere else if you don't like coupons. This store was not like this before the Catoosa store closed. They were nice and friendly and I always had a fun time shopping there. *sigh* We really need another homeland here...but I am very thankful that we at least have ONE...God..what would I do without it?!?!?!? FREAK OUT!!!

The Homeland store ADVERTISES double coupons up to 1.00. If the cashiers don't like it, too bad. It's the store's policy and they advertise it. It makes one want to bring the ad and wave it under their nose and ask why that's in the ad ? I'd be curious to hear what some of their kookie answers would be. One day I had a cashier that acted exasperated while running my coupons. I just looked at her and asked very sweetly and innocently, "Does it make you mad because I have coupons ?" She got really embarressed and made some off handed excuses about she was just trying to figure them out so she would do it right. She got very nice during the rest of the transaction. She knew she had acted poorly. I must admit, I hate to cause anyone embaressment, it bothers me. But that day, I figured enough of the cashiers had caused me embaressment over my coupons, I would just see how they liked it. And if you are super sweet and innocent....it makes them look like the total jerk they are .... in front of the people in line behind you. I make it a point to never get nasty (although I'd like to).... I can put my stuff back if the coupon won't work. Last edited by philomena83; 11-03-2009 at 10:03 PM. |
