Let me preface by saying my Wags in general have always been coupon friendly.

Tonight I was told my one of my fav cashiers that the store manager had said you could not use a coupon on something that was free. Apparently, there was an incident w/ someone trying to use 2 manu q's on B1G1 schick quattros. This person raised a stink when denied use of the second coupon. So, SM said no using q's on free items. My cashier took it to mean free after RR items too, so after finally finding the carefree for the first time, I was unable to use my $1/1 q.

Suggestions? Because I'll definitely be speaking to SM about this. AM on duty had no clue about any of it.

Another thought--this is why I really, really hate it when people make a big fuss, instead of cutting their losses and trying again elsewhere. That person just ruined it for a lot of people (hopefully not permanently, though). Can I just say again I feel it's best to avoid a heated argument?! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I hope this is not the true... My Wags is the only store that lets me use BOGO with 2 coupons....

At my Wags the store manager will let you use the coupons on a free item (or free after RR item) but the asst. manager will not let you use the coupons. So in a store it can even depend on who is on "duty" at the time you come in. But the asst. manager is just an angry little man in general so...

I argued that with the free after RR items that I'm still paying full price right now so why couldn't I use a coupon. And if Walgreens corporate didn't want people doing that wouldn't they code that into their register so the RR wouldn't print out. And in some week's ads they even mention something about "ad to your savings" by using coupons available in most sunday papers. I actually cut one of those out and saved it for when I have to deal with asst. manager.

We have had a couple coupon cheaters in the area lately too so now several of the grocery stores aren't accepting IP's anymore.

arent they still getting reimbursed even if you use a q for a free item? Maybe I'm wrong...but say the other razor is free (in the case of BOGO) - then the store takes a loss on the second razor (with most folks) because it's a store special. But..if u use a coupon, then they at least get the face value back + handling. Am I right?

I know of at least 6 WAGs around me that allow 2 coupons w/a BOGO deal.
I haven't been to some of the WAGs further out, but those close to me are very coupon friendly. I haven't heard anything about coupons w/RR deals either. Maybe it varies for each WAGs? I would call corp. to verify regardless.

2 of my fave Wags stores say if I bought the item and the coupon scans, they'll take it, even if it's a BOGO or free after RR. Some managers are so silly, they make up their own rules!

UPDATE:

Today I asked the SM, and he stated manu q's may be used on FARR items, but 2 manu q's may not be used on B1G1 items. He stated they'd received an email from corporate stating this.

Example: Schick quattro is b1g1. Only 1 $4/1 may be used. They claim using a manu q on a free item is fraud.

it's wrong? So does that mean i'm wrong for using 2 coupons on a BOGO at another store, or no? Like the other day arm and hammer tpaste was BOGO, and I used a coupon save 3.00 on two, was i wrong?

The whole BOGO MQ is such a YMMV but you should NEVER raise a major stink. Managars/Cashiers remember ppl who do this. It's best to walk away and try another store or try after the shift change. I agree it just depends on who is on duty and that determines what deals I will do at that time.

Brownie16, it sounds like you are sadly out of luck with the battle at your Wags, but if any other store doesn't have anything in their coupon policy about using 2 mq w/BOGO deal, then take advantage of it. I don't know about specific store policies, but I do know that unless a policy states that you cannot use 2 MQ's on a BOGO deal, it is definitely not coupon fraud. No matter what, whether you get the items for free or not, the manufacturer is reimbursing the store for both coupons. If your store coupon policy states that you cannot do this, then you have to go by the policy. There is a coupon column in my paper and they specifically talked about using 2 mq w/BOGO deals. If I can find the article I will post. Not that it will help out, but at least it will reassure that those who do use 2 mq's w/BOGO deals are not doing anything wrong.

We were told a while back that we can only use one coupon on BOGO items, the SM wasn't lying about that. We weren't told it was fraud per say, only that we couldn't do it at Walgreen's. Some Walgreen's do it and as far as I can tell they are still getting reimbursed for the coupons (we used to take two coupons for BOGO items at my old store and would get the value back). Some cashiers will let it go and not say anything, I usually let it go as long as someone isn't clearing the shelves or using 20 coupons on BOGO items or something. The idea is not to attract attention with it. If the cashier is caught they will get in trouble, but if you aren't using a ton of coupons then no one is going to look into the transaction, does that make sense?

Coupons are incentives for you to BUY a product, not get money back.
If $ are not exchanged for aproduct there should be no coupon.
