Ok so this is just a little rant, not big.... I have seem several threads where a person posted a great deal and was thanked by everyone, BUT....anyone that posted on their thread as a reply, the OP never thanked them...does it bother anyone else? IMO whenever someone responds to your original thread, you should go and thank them right?? Sorry I just had to get that off my chest Thanks for listening!

Yes, I've noticed that too. If the information was helpful to me I make sure & thank the preson as well as post a quick reply.

I admit, I don't always thank everyone who posts on a thread I begin, especially if I'm posting trip details or sharing a good deal I found. Maybe I should I do try to make sure I thank everyone who answers a question I post or responds with help/advise to me.

I guess I don't think about it too much because I don't really think much about if/when I'm thanked either. Just not something I've ever thought much about either way I guess.

Thanks for pointing it out, though! I'll try to keep it in mind because I know it means a lot to lots of people here!

It doesn't really bother me but I know that for me, I used to feel like such a thread killer and like no one would respond to my posts, so anytime someone responds to my posts now, even if it is constructive criticism or not what I want to hear, I'm grateful that they took the time to reply so I thank them.

I agree with what everyone has said so far...everyone wants to earn their stars (snowflakes etc.) and being thanked and posting great stuff is how it all happens

I agree, it's nice to be thanked! On the other hand, I've seen certain members post what color the sky is and 100 people thank them for the info. It's a thin line between good and bad. KWIM?

I always make sure to thank people if they helped, but if they're hijacking my thread then no thanks for them!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I find the info helpful I ALWAYS give thanks no matter if I was the thread starter or not.

On the other hand I think we should make a AFC pet peeves thread, there a few things that irk me. And I'm sure others too.

now if I start a thread and ask "what is your opinion?" I usually go back and thank the ppl who respond. not always, though, because sometimes I forget/lose track of the thread/get busy/etc.

other than that...I thank posts that are a GDA that I can use, or something that makes me laugh, or a compliment, something that I really agree with, something that gives me a good idea...yadda yadda yadda. I'm not really shy with the thanks button, but don't just go thanking everything, kwim?

I try to go back and thank people. There are times that I don't get back to my orignal post though so it is never intentional that I don't do it. I am sure that some have noticed that a week after they posted something in my thread I havefinally gotten back to it and thanked them..

Please keep in mind that not everyone is "into" the star system and therefore don't really understand the importance of hitting Thanks on a post. Using the Thanks button certainly isn't a requirement of belonging to AFC - it's just a fun, extra feature. Also keep in mind that just because you don't see that a member has thanked someone, they MAY have given Reputation instead so that they could leave a comment for the OP instead of just the "easy" thanks. So don't judge others, please.

Wow, that's kinda sad. I would certainly hope that if there is something that you think of that we can do to make your experience here at AFC better that you would post a note in Contact Us and let us know. I'd sure hate to learn of a thread where there are complaints that weren't brought to my attention.

I'll be honest...I am here to learn about saving money and then helping others learn from what I have learned. If I make a post it is 99% likely to be about a deal so I never go back to that post. I really don't get into the thanks and what not due to I don't have the time between working 50+ hours a week, being a mother and a wife. Sorry if thats upsetting to some but its not that I don't care I simply am usually rushing just to read posts.

It was a thanks in lieu of a High-five or Yah, Sister comment. I really appreciate when others comment and try to thank them but it's not always easy with limited time having family and jobs and just plain figuring out the best deals. I appreciate that others have more time and can do that,tho.

I use the thanks button frequently as sincere thanks and to say " I can totally relate" instead of writing that and making some of the very long threads even longer. It is troubling when I see regulars that don't have very many thanks at all- but i guess (now i know) they can be strict reputation button users. I hope they are.

I didn't necessarily mean that there was something wrong with AFC in general. I meant some of the things that the other members do, like misspelling words, using the LOL and ROFL too much. Those are pet peeves and I'm sure some of things do kind of bother other members. Maybe they bother me more because I'm such a perfectionist. I would never call any member out by name on those kinds of things. Now I'll know to just keep them to myself.

My thoughts exactly! When I get thanked I feel like, "wow that's nice!" Giving Thanks to my posts is certainly not a requirement. I love the work the mods put into keeping AFC warm and friendly. I say it's the friendliest place I've found on the web.

I'm new & still learning all the ins & outs of the board. Sometimes i forget to go back & say thanx, but it's not intentional.I'm just grateful for all the deals & this is the nicest board i've ever been on. I don't think we should have a pet peeve section if it's to gripe about other board members.That's better addressed by the moderators.

I thank everyone who responds to my threads, not everyone does that and it is not required. If people use LOL or ROFL too much, just deal with it. I use alot. That really seems like a little problem, also if people are mis-typing--maybe they have their baby in their lap and are typing with one hand.

I love AFC and I do not think bad things about people misspelling or using smilies or acronyms too much!

here's my 2 cents on this topic,

I make my thanks meaningful and would like to think that those who say thanks to me also mean, theirs. I agree with PP and I give thanks for one's suggestions/opinion but I will not just hit the thanks button for just about anything. I don't want to think that people say thanks to me hoping to get an accessory under their usernames. I dread to think it'll be like other boards with the repping party threads where you rep me and I'll rep you so we'll get a lot of those little squares

I would never beg for "thank you's" and prefer to earn it cause its sweeter that way rather than asking for it because of a snowflake or whatever accessory under my userID.

in other boards posts/siggys saying REP ME PLEASE! is quite annoying.
