What a morning!!! Fire in my house......

That is exactly what I told him....
It was 3 in the morning and I awoke coughing... now Im not sick or anything so there is absolutely no reason I would be coughing.

I woke him up and said "babe, its really smokey" He said "It's just the fireplace smoldering out, don't worry about it". (His fireplace is in his room) so I roll back over and try to sleep.. Its now 4 and I'm coughing uncontrollably and I knew it wasn't from "the smoldering fire". I shake him and tell him once again about the smoke, so he replies " Okay lets go sleep in the living room" We go out into the living room and we fall back asleep fast.

It's now around 7 am and I am up, we wonder back into his room and I attempt to get online... No light in his room will turn on but everyone in the living room and elsewhere does, so he goes down the the basement to mess with the circuits and they turn on, but he notices that the basement is extremely smokey and an electric cord is completely burned.

We contacted the owner of the home that he rents from and he called the Fire fighters. They were there instantly and told us to get everyone out of the house.
Well they tore up all the title under the fireplace in his room and cut about a 4 inch long by 2 inch hole into our floor, and 3 hours later got the smoldering fire out.

It was crazy/unreal. If it wasn't for me coughing and the lights not going on and him checking
we would have died from smoke build up or the house could have burned down

So it defiantly was a morning from He!!
We just need prayers and support, please

We are both VERY thankful we are alive
Please watch and check all your wires/sparks this winter and under your fireplace, to ensure safety!

OMG!!! I am so happy to hear that you all are ok. We had a fire a few years ago. I know how that is. Prayers coming your way!!!! Hopefully the owner will fix it for you so that it's safe again.

I caught my kitchen on fire while cooking. Not a fun expierance. My DS was 3 at the time and he remembers what happened. Tho scarry in the begining, it turned out to be a funny story. Mainly because we were all ok, and only had smoke damage. A few family members almost were arrested trying to get past the cops to get into the house to make sure we were fine. We ran to the neighbors.

Oh my!! Im so sorry.. My sister just had a bedroom in her house catch on fire in the attic, it was electrical.. They didnt smell smoke she just had no lights.. The fire marshall said it was a good thing it didnt happen at night they probably wouldnt have gotten out.. The fire was contained to one room...

A hint, if you smell something really sweet in a room and there is no reason to smell sweet check your wiring... The fire marshall told my sis that is a sign of smoldering wires.

Thank you everyone for caring! It means a lot. I'm definatly stressed (even more so because he just took me home to MY apartment 2 hours away because I have a huge final tomorrow) and Im just worried about his safety... I am ok though. Small coughing... but other than that we seem to be fine. We are just really really lucky and thankful. Good thing the good Lord is watching over!

Oh my gosh! I am so thankful you both were ok! I always worry about something like this happening as we had a fire in my house when I was 10. Nobody was home at the time but I lost my pets and it's left me with huge worries about fire ever since. Thank goodness you were both are safe! God really was watching out for you! I'm so glad you're both OK. How are the pets? We had a fire here 2 yrs. ago. Heat tape wire failed. It's still scarey to me. It might be a while before you're able to sleep without being scared-that's normal. Thanks for sharing with us

Praise The Lord you both are alive. We had friends that did not wake up and the whole family died in the fire. So it is scary for us. I will be thinking and praying for you both..take care and good luck on the test..
