What a day this has been here! First I wake up to hear that Wachovia could possibly be split between Citi and Wells Fargo. Not good news for us here and I certainly hope that doesn't happen.

Then we brought our 2nd car that DS uses for college and work into the shop. It had been overheating so we thought it was radiator related. Nope...head gasket. After talking with 3 separate repair shops and people we trusted, they all said to go with a different car or a new (rebuilt) engine vs. fixing the gasket in this car. $1500-$2000. The car is a 95, pristine in every way but that darn head gasket and only had 80K miles on it. We hemmed and hawed over whether or not to just get a different car and in the end did decide to put the engine in. We drive our vehicles until they are shot. We figure that better to have the known vs. the unknown with buying a different used car for DS to use.

And here's the sick part. There's a triples sale later this week and we're down one vehicle! The earliest I'll be able to get into the store to work it is 7-8pm and my stores here don't restock until they close. Poopers! Dh leaves for work at 6am, DS leaves for class between 7-7:30. Ah well. I'm going to take deep breaths and let this one slide if need be.

Thanks so much! I hate when I whine but sometimes I just have to, ya know? If I do it here it keeps me from doing it IRL. Sorry about that!

That car is so special to me. It's the one and only car I've ever bought brand spanking new and I know I will never do that again. They lose too much value vs. one that's already a year old. Anyway...we call her the sky chicken and her name is Millie. My youngest was only 7 when I bought the car and now he's 20 and the one driving her! I hope the chicken will run well for at least another few years with this other engine. If she can last DS until he's through with college and maybe a year or so beyond that it will be money well spent. I hope.

It's weird to be that attached to a car, isn't it?

If it makes you feel any better, my jeep had it's 4th wreck since January of this year!

OUCH!!! I hope no one was hurt in any of those accidents!!!!

Fate has pooped on my head already this morning I had ordered something for my FIL for Christmas from Overstock, and it arrived just a bit ago. It was someone elses return! Defective, and the container held together by scotch tape of all things. I noticed a label hiding beneath brown packing tape on the cardboard box it came in that was inside the shipping box. I knew before I opened it up it would be trouble after reading "Return Service" and HSN Fulfillment as the ship-to address. Hopefully what they send to replace it will be new and not defective. I did get a $5 credit to my account, though and since the item was $25 that's 20%. I've never had someone elses return shipped to me before.

But at least the car was towed this morning from one repair shop to the one that's going to take care of the engine! Am hoping it's done by the end of this week!

The first wreck, someone ran a red light and I ran in to them *Messed up the front end of the jeep*
Second Wreck~Big dog ran across the road in the pouring rain*
Third Wreck*Big Raccoon*
Fourth* My dad backed in to the passenger side* YIKES!

I've had 4 bumpers on the jeep since December! LOL
