| My favorite re-usable fast food containers!
Ok I definitely have a few places that I love to get take-out food at and re-use their containers. Wendy's. The plastic containers that the side salads and chili, chips-n-cheese come in are great! I just wash and re-use. Wal-mart Deli. Everyone knows what I'm talking about..those plastic containers that are organized into small, medium, large sizes with lids. What you would get if you ordered mac n cheese from the deli. Panera Bread. The take-out whipped cream cheese tubs are awsome! They are super sturdy. I wash and use for dips in my lunch box. Also, I re-use and of the small containers for dips and dressings that come with a to-go order at a restaurant. They are usually made by Solo (I think) and are black with a clear lid. I mostly see these for salad dressings at a salad bar. I love re-using them for more salad dressings in my lunch! Anyone else have some they wanna share? |

You might want to look into what grade of plastic they are. Off the top of my head I dont recall which numbers are dangerous, but I do know that washing and reusing water bottles and margarine containers can be toxic. The chemicals start to break down once you've used and washed the item. I am all for going green, but not for risking my health.

#5 is the dangerous number..and these things go through much tougher environments in the packaging factories than me using a soapy sponge under a faucet.

When I had more room I'd always save any kind of take-out container and use it for sending food home with Grandma to Grandpa or left-overs from birthday parties, etc. Near the holidays I start paying close attention to containers I can use for fudge. Some of it works better than others, but if it's just to transport the fudge to someone's house where they'll be serving it on a platter, I like the muffin containers as I can put muffin paper liners in each one and sort by flavor. |

I use the sundae containers from DQ or McD for mini greenhouses to sprout seeds in for spring planting. |

| I LOVE the Loyd's BBQ containers! They are the best to store left over spaghetti and soups!

I also save the Taco Bell containers that they put their cheese nachos in when we get them...they are really sealed tight! I save the plastic tubs from the deli and also that the chinese food rest. puts their duck sauce in. (it is usally a perfect size for a snack for the kids for school and is hard plastic and seals pretty tight).

I am so glad to know we aren't the only family with a cabinet full of ghettowere (what the kids call my reusable containers)

LOL I like McCallister's Deli plastic cups with the lids. I always get a sweet tea and use the cup at home for a few days afterwards!! |

I like using the large rectangular tops to the croissant boxes from Sam's. They make wonderful "drawers" for my freezer over the fridge. Some times things can get lost in the back so this makes it easy to pull out so you can see everything.

Yep - love the KFC containers! The little ones the cole slaw comes in are a great hard to find size.
