I'm talking about the ones we all use - AA, AAA, C and D batteries - Duracell, Energizer, etc. I googled recycling batteries and there's lots of information about recycling cell phone and laptop batteries, but not "household batteries" as they are called. No schools in my area are doing it and some of the websites had kits you had to buy to recycle! You think they would be paying us! So I'm wondering if a hardware store does it...... Thanks for your help! Mary

Does your city have a location for battery recycling? My dh works for the water dept. of a large city here in dfw and his workplace has a drop-off site for batteries. Also, you can check with a hazardous waste site, like shopperlite mentioned.

Thanks! We have a hazardous waste day, in April and October where you can go to a parking lot and they will take stuff like unused paint, etc. As far as the hazardous waste dropoff, I know there's one about 20 miles from here, but nothing close. I'll check with the public works dept. Maybe they know something. Thanks again! Mary
