The customer service agent said I could do 2 separate transactions, instead of going outside. Then coming back in the store.

First order, no problems. Second order- the cashier calls over the head cashier because the register won't accept credit card.

She said an added item, it would go through. Grabbed a candy bar and the order was completed.

Asked if it had to do with the Advantage card tracking, she said no.
If you pay cash, it doesn't do that either. Only with a credit card.

I'm not complaining, thought that was strange how the register does that.

That happened to me once. I was rolling a OYNO coupon and the total amount was identical. After I did it a couple times, it wouldn't take my credit card, so I had to use it as a debit instead.

Best way is if you have idea or budget you want to spend just buy a gift card that way you earn more fuel perks also. You won't have to worry about this.

It's a security measure - to prevent your card being charged twice for the same transaction. If I know I'll be doing a bunch of identical orders I grab a gift card and load it with 10 or 20 bucks first - or - I use a different card each time - or - I'll add something little to each order. Like tonight I added my bananas to one, my lunch meat to another, and then some ensure singles to the third. So each was a different total.

to what Neeky says. It is a pain, BUT they will even do that to gift cards also.

yep.. we learned this one during the best buy gift card promotion back in november. DH wanted to buy a couple of them and the cashier just added a couple of pennies to each order then handed him the change. Probably wasn't the "right" way to do it, but it was a lot less aggravating than having the cashier say "nope, nothing i can do about it so buy a candy bar too." like we need the extra calories!

Yep, same thing happened to me last week! At first I was really worried - then they explined why it was denied. I'll just have to remember and add stuff to future orders.
