The teachers ask for donations also for extra crayons, pencils, glue sticks, craftsupplies, b/c not all the kids will always have what they need, so you might want to purchase a little extra, ours besides disinfecting wipes & paper towels, handsoap etc.. also asked for donated tissues, boxes or indiv. packages. You might also want to keep in mind the binder to have the thin clear cover on the outside, she put notes in there so we noticed right away, we had to go out and get another, and if they ask for the file folder inside the binder get the plastic ones b/c they last much, much longer. I would also recommend you get the freezer paks, the flat ones work best, and stockup on juices and snacks if you see good deals, b/c the prices do go up near the beginning of the school season. We also had to get a wooden clip board for our son, (the cheap plastic colored ones break super fast), and a separate snack bag b/c the teacher said it was easier for the little ones to grab, than to dig in their lunches to seperate. Hth, and you will love seeing the little one go to kindergarten!!

I watch the office supply stores. They tend to have one or two things a week really cheap. Buy multiples because you will have to restock the kids in the middle of the year. Be aware about buying something really cute...some kindergartens and even older classes pool the supplies so if you buy your child something really special they may not be allowed to keep it. I bought my child some really cool pencils, only the find that they went in a cup at the front of the class and kids would take a pencil as they needed it, return it to the teacher when it needed sharpened and she would sharpen them after school. Apparently the teacher had a real problem with the sound of pencils being sharpened. Needless to say my daughter's cool pencils disappeared never to be seen again. Send only plain stuff until you know how the supplies are going to be used.

I keep a miniature copy of the school supply list in my wallet so as I am shopping if I run across a good deal on school supplies I know what I still need and can score a good deal!

I would definitely keep a watch for deals at the big office supply chains like Staples and Office Depot. They often run incredible deals-you have to check the ads-on all kinds of things. Surprisingly, they have some great deals on school supplies for kids. Also, I do recall that last year Kmart had a great deal on crayola products-like the 24 cent crayons, etc. Keep watching the ads-the beginning of July should start with sales. I hope to stock up and get items to donate to kids here in need of school supplies. Best wishes to all of you parents who have children starting school-I would be an emotional wreck!!!

Honestly, I'll be glad to get a break from one kid during the day. She's a handful.

Walmart had Elmer's Glue sticks for 10 cents a piece yesterday. I bought four even though I don't have my kids' "official" school list yet. If they don't need them, I will donate them.

Yes - Staples has three items this week (4 oz Glue, 8 Ct Bic Pens and 24 Ct RoseArt Crayons) for $0.01 - Limit 2 of Each with $5 purchase.

They also have Scotch Super glue 4 Pk for $2.99 with rebate to make it free, their Blue package paper for $6.99 with $6.74 rebate and Bounty Basic Towels 8 Pk for $5 (with $1 coupon out there) as thoughts for the $5 purchase.

Hopefully this helps those near enough to Staples - I'd guess the other two (Office Max and Depot) will start these soon also - actually seems that Staples is early (given that school here doesn't start until Labor Day week - maybe the week before for some college and private schools).

Take it from a school teacher, we accept all donations especially glue. There is never, ever enough. Expo markers are a good donation too! Half of my class will not bring anything. I end up buying most of it myself. So on behalf of all the teachers we truly appreciate the extra support we get from you.

I wanted to let you all know that not only does Staples have great school supply prices, but their toilet paper is a bargain!!! At Staples this week through 7/21, Charmin 16 db roll toilet paper packs are only $5.99! Plus, use the $5 purchase to score 2-1 cent notepads and 2-Avery index dividers! :-)

LOL pearlscraftymama! It's okay! I'll take your kid for the day and we can have art camp! I love art and am an artist. I hope to get a good stockpile of Crayola going. (Sorry to be a killjoy-but those Penway and Rose Art crayons are the absolute pits!) LOL! ;-)

I went to get some (a lot) of this - and the price isn't marked anywhere in the store, and it's not in the store print ad for our area, though it is in the "online" ad for my store. I don't have a 'smart phone' or any portable way to 'prove' to the store that it is advertized on their website, so I don't know how to buy this TP at this price! :/ I bought a bunch of it last year when they had this sale and it lasted for months.

Any suggestions? The sale ends tomorrow (er, later today . . .)

Staples Toilet Paper

Hi Shanti, If you can print a frame of the ad showing the price and take it with you, a manager would probably honor the price. Also it might be in the ad in-store if they have extras.
