| Did I just get chastised...
by the cashier at my local Safeway for pulling 3 $.55/1 silk half gallon or larger stickies? Ok so here's the scenario... I pulled 3 of the stickies because I didn't bring enough money with me today to buy them and we have a crazy coupon lady who will take them all. Actually we have 2 of them roaming town. In any event I snagged 3 thought cool I'll come grab 3 tonight or tomorrow. I check out with my 1 gallon of regular milk for the lone lactose digester in the house, and the cashier looks in the cart and asked if the 2 dove coupons on the circular were mine. I said yes, so she walked around the checkout to the cart while i'm paying and said are these silk ones yours too, I said yes. She pulled them off the cart and went back around behind the register. (I thought she was coming around to put the milk in the cart for me like they do) Then she holds them up in my face and says "You can't take these, only if you are buying these now." I told her well, I am taking them so I can buy them later before the weirdo grabs them. Mind you, $.55/1 is not much in a double-less zone like mine on a 3.99 half gallon of silk. I buy probably about 6-8 half gallons of silk per week at this store. Her parting words were if you want to use coupons then learn how to use them. Ok, fine, so I told her manager on the way out that if she wants to chastise me about taking 3 stickies, she could at least put my milk in the shopping cart while she's at it, like she's supposed to. He told me he would take care of it, he sees me there all the time. (I only shop here, but once every few months when I need to stock up on meats I go elsewhere) Then he apologized, even though he didn't have to. How sweet, he's so nice. He told me it was ok to take some stickies to use later, "Our customers do it all the time". Has anyone else been chastised like this?

Hasn't happened yet, but I do fear that it will one day. In fact I was out today at CVS and took a few (3) peelies for $1/1 ANY Mission Tortillas coupons. I've been collecting them one by one at every CVS I go to so I'll have enough to last me until the end of the year when they expire. I so get why you'd want the Silk Milk Coupons, especially if it is something that you use on a regular basis. I look at it like this: Manufacturers put coupons in the Sunday Newspaper, on Coupons.Com, Smartsource.Com, Redplum.com, on tearpads in the store, AND on peelies. The intent is that you or someone else will use them right? It's part of their marketing scheme. So, since I have those $1/1 peelies, I will buy Mission Tortillas from now until the end of the year... so that's good for their business right? Wasn't that the whole point of coupons...to drum up more sales? It's sheer advertising to get you to buy their product.. and you will.. next time ![]() Just my 2-cents! P.S. If a good Silk Milk Coupon comes out and you need it, PM me and you can have ALL of mine |

I thought it was funny, she must be new, i've never seen her before and I go there a couple times per week. Also, the manager said it was fine and from my point of view, he's higher on the totem pole than she is. The problem here is we have the stereotypical crazy coupon lady, 2 of them to be more accurate. they wander through town with their crankiness and steal every coupon in sight regardless if they are going to use them or not. They've been caught robbing the newspapers of coupons, and they are just all around rude and nasty. Well, I saw one of them in the store yesterday and knew she was going to take every silk q they had. Just really irritated me the way she waved them in front of my face when she said all that, like I was 2.

Robbing the newspapers of coupons is theft, and they can be arrested for that! They are breaking the law, you are not!

I've taken coupons out of papers, I bring all the copies up to the register, pay for them all and then take the coupons out and leave the rest for other people who just want the news part. Really, how many newspapers do I need to read? . What this woman does is theft, and she's nasty about it. She takes all the coupons out of all the copies and then only pays for 1 paper. They've kicked her out of the store for that.

SO sorry this happened to you! Kudos for speaking with the manager. She had NO right to take them from you! I think we ALL take a few coupons like that for things we need but can't buy RIGHT NOW and there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Now, wiping the whole shelf of the coupons is another thing . I'm so glad to hear of these stories on here though, it makes me feel better when things like this happen to me and it gives me the courage to do something about it instead of being embarrassed and quiet about it.
