Not sure if you are allowed to do a raffle or silent auction but if you are these are a great way to raise money. We have different groups do a theme basket and then have a silent auction...some themes have been Christmas, Halloween, Valentine, picture frames, lighthouses, college, spa, relaxing, chocolate, coffee, candy. Each person in the group donates one item to the basket. We have had up to 30 baskets at a time.

When my hubby and I were on the board for our pee-wee football team, we came up with an idea I thought was pretty neat. Don't know how you could do it for the ms walk... maybe have people sell them at school for the morning announcements??? We sold Cheer greeting. Charged $1.00 you fill out a little slip of paper with your name, the person's name you are giving the cheer too, and a little message. They were delivered to the press box and read during the game, half time etc. It was a huge success! Only took a minimal amount of time too!

Contest Raised 6k for ToughMudder with Crowdvance!

Hey,

So maybe this will help. I actually ran the ToughMudder race a year ago and used Crowdvance.com. Its really awesome, you can create a custom fundraising page online and your supporters get to choose from exclusive gifts and promotions from online brands as a reward for donating. I raised over $6,000 on the platform. I think it would really help! www(dot)crowdvance(dot)com

Trivia Nights are hugely popular in St. Louis. Our school is doing one and charging $25 a person for a table of 8. Some charge less like 10 dollars - depends on the event/area. People bring snacks for their table and have a good time. Also do other little fundraisers during the event like silent auctions or heads or tails and split the pot with the winner.

Our local soccer group does a Little Ceasers pizza fundraiser. We don't like their pizza normally, but with the fundraiser we get frozen pizzas and they are so good!

Or talk to local companies about donating items for a raffle or a Balloon throw (prizes taped on board behind balloons which are then hit with darts. We've gotten jewelry stores, coffee shops, movie theaters, local home businesses, etc to donate. Good luck!

I cannot stand most send home fundraisers. My children are not sales reps.
Now, bake sales, carnivals, and raffle events I will support.

We did a tricky tray for a cancer walk 3 years ago if you have a "team" and friends who can be runners we raised over 12k in 1 night, there's 2 ways to go about it you can rent an actual banquet hall which has a sit down dinner (what we did) the hall gave us a price break since it was a fundraiser of $25 per plate we charged $45 per ticket you get 2 sheets of regular tickets with the admission and then presage packages, tickets there and a 50/50....... The other option is rent a hall with no food $10 a ticket the people at the table bring a plate for the table to share ect.

It requires most work to solicit donations from businesses for the baskets but its also free advertising for them as you mention who it's donated from ect.

I'm thinking about doing a fundraiser for Autism Alliance at my son's school. I was thinking about setting up a table outside of the cafeteria for a week and I will charge the kids .50 to pull a bingo chip out of a bag. If they pull out a certain color chip, they win a piece of candy of some sort - probably a blow pop or whatever I can get in bulk cheap.

I am having the same problem looking for fund raising ideas. My group is a work group and we are all over the country and work virtually.

My idea was an ebook, cookbook...we'd gather recipes from everyone and make a cook book out of them but it would an ebook, we could email the file...but I need another idea, so if some of you creative thinking people can help I'd appreciate it

Update

I believe in the saying “In order for something new to come in, something else must go out.”

You can always try to organize your storage and make a list of items that you have that you don’t use, hardly use, and/or that you’re willing to part with. Write these items down on a sheet of paper, whiteboard, or track them in a spreadsheet. Then try to determine the market value of these items.
Learn to let go. You can always sell them, either locally or online.

For me, I much prefer selling it locally to avoid the hassle of shipping and buyer problems because they can check it personally. So, if you decide to sell it locally, try to up the price a bit to give the buyer and you some room to negotiate lower. You can also do a yard sale/garage sale but try do it during weekends to have more goers; also advertise them in your local newspaper (some might be really pricey not worth it) or advertise them through online garage sale ads (these are free) like the site I always visit "garagesalecow". You could also take good photos of some of the items that you will sell for them to know what to expect.

p.s. try to be open-minded and realistic. The item you have purchased before for $100 might not be worth $100 now. Item value depreciates but check if that item can be considered antique.

hope this helps!

I can't think of new ideas but the ALS ice bucket challenge was a huge success, it went international. moviestars and politicians in my country have taken on the challenge as well both for publicity and in aid of election.

in connection to these fund raising, using card readers like paypal reader/square/amazon reader come in very handy to process CC and DC payments for those who don't carry cash. This advance in technology benefits people with small businesses.
