| NO more self check out for me
Tonight I went to Fry's to get some more of the Megas, the lines were OUTRAGEOUS so I decided to go to the self check out. After scanning all my items, the went to hand my coupons to the cashier and she flipped out on me. She told me that I was not supposed to go to the self check out with that many coupons. News to me. She then got really frustrated and didn't scan 20 of my coupons, about $20 worth of coupons. I didn't argue because I am still having contractions and the stress was already getting to me. Any other day I would have but not today. It took her 15 minutes to scan all my coupons. I was quite upset about this and it just proves to me that I will never use the self checkout again there. I wish you could scan your Q's at the register like at Safeway. ARGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

First of all, {{{big hugs}}} How far along are you now, hun? Everything gets so exhausting when preggo. I'd talk to the manager about it. She can't treat people like that ... stressed or not. Grrr. Take the items back and tell them why you are returning them. Like you have energy for that either ... |

I'm only 28 weeks, which is why I didn't want to stress anymore. Hubby is out of town for 2 weeks, so I'm at home alone with 4 year old and she stresses me out sometimes just like any 4 year old does. I'm going to the doc tomorrow and I'm pretty sure he will put me on bed rest which is going to be fun with my DD and my DH gone. I'll let you guys know.

I am so sorry that happen. Take care of yourself and I know the feeling with my 3rd and first daughter I had contractions almost non stop at 26 weeks. They even put me in the hospital for awhile and try to get them to stop no go and then finally sent me home with drugs to help stop them no go and fainlly I got to the point they said do what ever as they couldn't stop them. LOL She came 3 weeks early and is fine. The two boys were 3 and 1 so I do understand . Hang in there and let us know how the appt. goes. (((((BIG HUGS))))

If you have time, call the store. Explain what happened. The self check is heavily camerea-ed area they should be able to pull the video and see what happened.

I agree that it would be a good idea to call the store and talk to the manager. You may also want to mention that you are a member of this forum and that you're considering posting the store information online so that others will avoid shopping at their particular branch.

Ironically, this is why I go to self check out. I feel bad about using so many coupons that I don't want to hold up other people! I have NEVER had a problem using a lot of coupons at self check out. If they did have an issue with it, there would be a sign. The cashier was probably having a bad day. I do think that those who watch over the self check out have a harder job watching all the registers. I am amazed how many people try and sneak food without paying for it by going through self check out! Drink water, take a deep breath and think happy thoughts! |

The problem with coupons and self checkout that I've found, is that if it is busy and she is watching other screens as she scans your coupons, they may 'jump' off your order when another SCO blinks on her screen and she has to tend to that. So if she doesn't reconnect with your order, the coupons that she scans won't come off even though she is scanning and they are beeping. She has to be active on your screen and stay active every time another screen blinks for them to come off. Most of the SCO cashiers are mindful of this, but if you get someone that is new on them or not paying attention, you can get shorted a lot of coupons. Which is why I always count how many coupons I am using before I checkout and check my receipt after. If there has been a problem, I have never had an issue with them correcting it, even if I come back the next day. Of course, YMMV at different stores. I am very lucky at mine. Also, don't forget the electronic coupons do not work at SCO, at least for me. So when I know I am using some, I always go through the regular line.

I also have two helpful boys that want to do everything for me! Scan, bag, collect coupons, give coupons, ask for rainchecks...They are becoming quite the shoppers. My oldest will make sure that the cashier takes off $.05 for each bag I bring. My next son is just getting into "scanning". So when I go to the grocery store, even if it is a small trip, the self checkout line is a treat for them. One time my dad came with us to the grocery store. Each of us had a cart. My dad said, "You go first, you will take longer than me with three boys." That was all my sons needed to hear. They "raced" grandpa without him knowing. Then we finished and helped Grandpa who was only 1/2 way done. |
