| Uses for Kool-Aid
With all the Kool-Aid we have been buying I was thinking of ways to use it besides as a drink. I came up with making ice pops mixing it in frosting or pudding for flavor and color dye shirts with the kids and my DS came to me and asked if he can dye his hair with Kool Aid!

I am doing a craft with my 3yr old class in school. You can mix the flavors with paint and the paint will smell like the Kool Aid packs. Kids love that!!

You can also use it to color/scent homemade playdough...but it does make kids more likely to eat the playdough!

I used it to tint the bath water when my kids were little. They still (Ages 8 and 9) ask if they can have colored water when they take a bath. Steph

My church has VBS coming up in a few weeks and have been asking for Kool-Aid and sugar. I took some of the KA already and a bag of sugar I had gotten at Walgreens for $1.74 after coupons. |

OK, doesn't it worry anyone that you can DYE YOUR HAIR with something that is supposed to be edible? All those chemical colors do not make it into my house, no matter HOW cheap they are ... crabby kids in poor health = not worth it!!!

| Just be sure your children are old enough to understand the difference between edible play dough and that which is not edible. Also, edible play dough can get pretty dirty - depends on hand, area, and supervision.

Nope, I add the kool-aid to the water as it's filling up. We've used blue, red, purple, yellow(doesn't show up too good)pink(we like the red better)orange(we like red better). The have never been stained. It just tints the water. We even use 2 pkgs. sometimes. Steph

| Strip hard water build up from your hair . . .
I had a hairdresser tell me to mix a packet of Lemonade Kool-aid with a regular *dose* of conditioner and work it into my hair and leave for 10 minutes - then rinse, re-wash, and condition again. It worked - you may need to wash your hair 2 or 3 times to get the kool-aid grit out, but it did strip the red rust outta my hair from well water.

Use a lemonade flavored packet in your empty dishwasher for a quick cleaning. The citric acid cleans the dishwasher and leaves it lemony fresh!

Everyone had some awesome tips. Thanks. I remember as a kid we would use the kool-aid and those tupperware ice pop maker or take and use an ice tray and make ice cubes with kool-aid. Good times in the hot summer of Mississippi. |

| "OK, doesn't it worry anyone that you can DYE YOUR HAIR with something that is supposed to be edible? All those chemical colors do not make it into my house, no matter HOW cheap they are ... crabby kids in poor health = not worth it!!!" Ingredients in KoolAid: citric acid, salt, calcium phosphate, artificial flavor & color, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). It's temporary color - the same as if you put food coloring on your hair. It's not going to kill them to drink OR color their hair with it. Just curious, have your kids never drank KoolAid, scrapquickl?? |
