Hello! Just thought I would share...I refill my Dawn Direct Foam bottle up around where the name of the fragrance is with regular Dawn Dish Liquid. If you fill it much over the name area, it wont be very foamy, it'll be more liquidy. Then I add warm or hot water to about an inch from the top, put the lid on and then gently turn the bottle upside-down and right-side up to mix it. Wahlah! Much cheaper!!
I hope this helps someone. I have messed with it and some other bathroom foam soap I have for a while until I got the mix right. And it helps when all we can get is $.25 dawn coupons. Enjoy! Melissa

yes, I've tried different proportions but the one Melissa mentioned seems just right to me also.

just make sure NOT to shake but gently turn the bottle upside down to mix the water and dish liquid.

My husband thought of this too, he is the one in charge of refilling the pump dispenser with his special receipe. Works great!

Yes, the thing that makes the foam is the pump head. I use about 3 tablespoons of Softsoap or Dial liquid in the bathroom pump, the rest water. It foams nicely and works well. Makes the refills last for a looooooooooong time. I am using the Softsoap refill jug that was marked down at Christmas, and it is still nearly full, 6 months later.

I do this too with the B&BW pump in the bathroom. I too bought the dial after Christmas and still have half. I have even had people comment on how nice the soap is in my bathroom!

Yes, I'm sure it will.

Its not the liquid but in the gizmo pump that makes it foam. I've also done this with the buddies foam dispenser and refill it with Suave kids shampoo, it works great and economical, too.
