My son is 14 months old and in need of a haircut every month his hair grows so fast! I tried cutting it on my own last month. It turned out okay, but certainly not even! Anyone have any advice? Any hairstyles for boys that are easy to do besides a buzz cut?

I have to cut my sons hair. I tried taking him to the barber when he was 18 months old, and he screamed the whole time. We went back a couple more times, but everytime he would scream and kick. So now I put in one of his favorite movies or shows, sit him on the floor and I sit next to him and I start to trim everything up. It may take a while to get it done, but I would rather do it this way then have him kicking and screaming for the barber.

I cut both my boys' hair. Actually, the youngest ( just turned 2) used to shake his head on purpose so I would screw up, so I have just let his get a little on the long side. . I suppose I could give it a try again, but I'm used to it long. But for the other one I would always just put on a movie and go at it. I use a clipper set at maybe 3 on the back and go from the nape of the neck straight up(not up onto the top of the head, but at a straight angle up so the top stuff is a little longer), then use a hair scissors on the top and blend it in with the shorter stuff in the back. I also use the clipper on the sides around the ears and take the guard off to clean up on the neck. It may take a time or two to completely get the hang of it, but now it's so easy for me. I do my husband's hair too and we have definitely saved money with me doing it at home and no one knows that he doesn't have a professional doing it.

I cannot give any advice for a boy's haircut....but I have been cutting my daughters hair for several years. Her bangs used to be crooked all the time, then one time I took her to a salon when she was 3 and the lady that cut her hair was nice enough to show me how to do it myself! (I guess it was obvious that I was cutting it myself ) Well, since then I have had no problems and do it all the time.

I cut my boys' hair- it gets easier (and better) the more times you cut. They are all happy to have it done at home and then be able to shower afterwards. I would second the movie or tv show advice- get them watching something they like and they will sit longer - the only problem is when you need them to look down |

My Grandma used to take a tupperware bowl, stick it on my dad's head, and cut! Hence the term bowl cut...anyway, don't do that it looks awful.

Lol, my mom gave me a bowl cut for my bangs. It looked awful on me too. My sister had just started trying to cut my nephew's hair. He just turned two and I'll admit, it looks better longer. She did a good cut the first time but kept on making little trims here and there and the more she cut, the worse it got. So my advice would be to do it only once or maybe twice if it needs touching. After that, you may end up cutting more than you thought you did. He sits for Spongebob, .

We take it to a stylist we have seen for 6 years usually and she charges 5 bucks for my oldest and free for the babies so far. Sorry, but it's not wroth the hassle when I can pay $5 plus my kids are actually better for someone else than me. Maybe if I was not in my home where they know a toy is right around the corner. On top of that, one has stick straight hair and one has curly curly hair and to me those are harder to cut than just wavy.

I cut my DS's hair. He has 2 huge cowlicks and the only hair do he can have without those spots sticking straight up is a buzz cut. took me a couple of tries until I got the feel and handle of cutting it.

I used to cut my boys hair when they were toddlers. I would wait until they fell asleep - the oly time they would stop moving - and do one side, then flip them over and do the other side. Anything that looked uneven was cleaned up while they ate breakfast in the high chair. Or ignored |

We bought a set of clippers that came with 8 different sized guards. I use the 8 (longest cut) on DS (3yo) and its alittle longer than a buzz cut, atleast his hair doesn't stand straight up. There is no way, movie or not that he would sit still long enough for any other haircut.

I cut everyone's hair.. DH's, DD's, the in-laws, the neighbors. I really need to start charging! In Canada (before I moved here) I managed 2 salons, seems everyone that knows this, wants a free hair cut. I wish someone would cut mine for free!

I cut both my DS's hair. I've done it since they were little. It just takes some practice and getting used to. My 8 y.o. still thinks it takes too long. 5 minutes and he's ready to get out of the chair. My oldest (13), just asked me two days ago, to give him a summer "buzz" cut. And he got it!

My DH cuts our 3 sons hair. Saves me at least $40 a month. I bought a really nice hair trimmer with size attachments for only $30 last year. Totally worth the price. Plus the kids really love getting their hair cut by daddy.

I cut my own hair using Robo Cut. No mess since it attaches to the vacuum.

| The new Kids Hair Clippers from Philips Norelco are great.
I give my kids haircuts at home. I just find it to be much more convenient and much less stressful than the trips to the barbershop. I've been using the Kids Hair Clippers which are specially designed for kids. They are also very easy to handle because they are small, lightweight and cordless. Another plus is that they are very quiet, so the kids don't get frightened by a loud buzzing sound. Giving my kids haircuts at home also allows us to spend more time together. It has become a monthly ritual that my boys actually enjoy and look forward to. I have actually started a blog about hair clippers because I enjoy the time, stress and money that I have saved by purchasing the Kids Hair Clippers and skipping the salon visits. This blog is my way to share with other parents the benefits of kids haircuts at home. You can find out more about the Kids Hair Clippers at my blog www.thewholeclip.com and decide if it is something you'd like to pursue as well. |

I cut my DS, DH and DD at home. I am not a hairdresser, but with practice and a friend who is a stylist that was nice enough to show me how, I do the boys every 3 weeks or so. My husband has a job that requires a professional look so it pays to do it myself since he needs it so often. I use clippers on the boys. You can just use on length on the whole thing, but I use 3 different ones. Short for the back, slightly longer on top and one in between to fade the two together. It looks great!

| I do the same thing. I'm actually licensed in Michigan but have not transferred it to Louisiana. I cut the family and friends as well. But I usually cut my own as well as I've gone to 3 different places here to get a hair cut and OMG they were the WORST ever. I went to 1 place after i had woke up, just threw a hat on figuring they would wash it...oh no..she just took the hat off and started cutting..I was beyond myself and it was the worst haircut i've ever had. So I refuse to go anywhere and payfor a bad haircut, at least i can give myself a bad one at home for free...LOL

I cut my husbands hair and I also cut both of my little boys hair. My son had a lot of issues with getting too close to his ears and the clippers being too loud and we bought those hair clippers made specifically for kids and they did not work any better then the set I already had….we returned them. My boys now do better if they are NOT looking in the mirror {one of my boys had OCD and freaked out when I turned him around and he saw how “messy” he was} I’ve started cutting their hair while they sit on a stool in our bath tub, and so far it works great.

I tried to cut my son's hair last night ( ) (he is 19 months old) and he kept squirming around so I only cut off a little over his ears. He actually thought I was hurting him !
