I didn't know where to post this? I want to take advantage of the Dominos Sugar Walgreens has on sale for $1.99 with the .30/1 mf q and with one $10.00 RR from CG I have it would be 6 bags for almost free. We drink sweet tea all of the time. I just don't have room to store that many in the pantry and was wondering if you can freeze it? TIA.

Yup do it all the time. I like to pour it in to a tupperware container with a tight fitting lid and put it in the freezer. My mom froze sugar this way and come to think of it I have no idea if it's better or not. Just what I do!

I freeze both sugar and flour.
How long can you freeze chocolate for? Anyone know?

as long as its airtight. Anyway sugar lasts indefinately if you have it at rm temp in an airtight container!

I too could also use more freezer space - especially with the huge 10 bag of flour DH brought home using that GM freebie I had. DH is really starting to enjoy couponing!

I think I remember my sugar turning into larger crystals after freezing... I know I didn't put it in air tight containers though, so there may have been some moisture... I didn't have a problem with it. I still used it, my DH did think I was a little crazy though.

Why would you freeze it? It doesn't go bad in the pantry...

I keep my brown sugar in the freezer...same as someone else, 'cause my mom did so I just do....

Sugar has a very long shelf life. I have some in my pantry from last year...I opened one up last week.
I do put mine in a ziploc bag when storing but that's it.

That is great to know. I have kept extra flour in the freezer when I found it on a good sale. I also keep rice in the freezer pretty much all the time. (Riceland coupon that Kroger doubles = Free rice!)

Moisture makes granulated sugar hard and lumpy. Once this happens, there is no way to adequately restore it. Always store granulated sugar in a covered container in a cool, dry area.

Because of the fact that there IS moisture in your freezer, I WOULDN'T freeze it.

I froze a bag of sugar once. Ended up with one great big sugar cube
