I have cable and internet on one bill and it has been running me $140.00 for a while now. It made me so sad. I do not spend that much time on either to pay so much. So I called up comcast and said I feel I am paying too much for my service. I am going to have to check out my other options if I can not get my bill lower than this. The guy took a minute then said I can give you the same service for $78.00 a month for the next year. I said thanks. He then said when the year was over just call back and they should honor that price again. So it never hurts to try. Hope this helps anyone that is paying way too much for internet and cable.

I have never had cable and I want it so badly. I would love to figure out a way to afford it. Maybe I'll call some places and see what they say.

It never hurts to try. If you have more than one company that offers service maybe they compete a little more.

I also did this. I have Time Warner and on Wed I called and said I would like to keep exactlly what I have but pay less. I pay 125 a month. They tried to get me to downgrade my interent which would save 10 dollars. I said no. Then she tried to get me into a 2 year contract and I would pay 110 a month for 2 years and it won't go up for 2 years but I had to keep cable and internet for tat long or pay 150 early termination (wasn't interested in that cause who knows what will go on with the internet prices over the next 2 years, I am hearing some area are offer internet for free, naked dsl I think it is called). So I asked what else can you do. She gave me 105 a month for one year. Of course after the year it will go up. But i'll just call again. So a 20 minute phone call saved me $20 a month for a year (that $240...wow) just remember to always ask well do you have anything else. After you have be given all the options then you can pick what is best for you.

I actually called AT&T here...set it up to switch over because Charter wouldn't work with me on the price (I got a representative from India that basically told me to shut up and pay the bill). I had it all set to switch over, dish, phoneand intrnet was going to be 76$/month.

I called charter back and told them I was switching and I wanted to cancel service. I got a nice lady from Wisconsin this time and she asked why...I gave her my problem stories over the last year and she was almost as angry as I was. She said "hang on, let me see what I can do." By the time I got off the phone with her, she'd upgraded my internet and gave me expanded basic, I didn't have to pay for the cable box and am paying something like $65 before tax for the next year. She also said to call her back and she'll extend it once the year is up.

I have Suddenlink cable here. Just last month I called because they hiked my monthly bill up by $5. I asked if there was anything they could do to lower my payment and she said yes. I'm not sure what they did but my bill was $10 less than usual, even before the $5 hike!

Just got a new bill last night & I came off contract.....went from $94/mo to $143/mo for the same service!!!!!!!

I know AAA has an extra $10/mo discount over and above any national plans w/DirecTV. Gonna do some research & have that in my back pocket when I call TWC....... see if I can get my old rate back!

I called Time Warner today and the guy told me "You're already under a special" We pay $140+ all the extra fees - so around $160 a month for cable tv/phone/and the slow version of their internet. I kept asking him WHAT special we were under, and he stumbled around a few times and finally said "We call it the Triple Play" - which basically just means you're getting all three services.

I said "You have ads all the time for $99 for new customers, but you don't give anything to your longtime loyal customers. Is that right?" He said "Yes ma'am."

He wouldn't reduce our bill a penny. I can't stand Time Warner!!

We also have good ole Time Warner! When we moved in this sub division it was all that was available, so we have phone, internet & cable. I have watched the bill go up, up, up and we pay around $170! We called awhile back to see about discontinuing the phone & go to another cheaper service and they told us that if we did remove the phone service from our package, the other 2 services would go up and our bill wouldn't change!! I wish years ago I had gone ahead and got the dish for Dish Network or Direct TV so that I could just have it Internet by satellite.

I called the regular charter number and chose the cancel service button. I have her name written down at work (I had to call from work) but I believe her name was Ann. She said the best time to call is in the morning because they work 6am - 3pm central time. Originally I'd called at about 5pm and received the representative from India that accused me of cursing at him and told me to pay my bill.

What it boils down to is, they don't want to lose you. If you tell them that you're planning on switching and want to cancel service...they'll bend over backwards.

i called my phone co. , last week and told them that i thought 39.99 was too high for dsl . they told me that i could add 100 mins of long distance for about 5.00 more a month and get my internet for 19.99 a month . and i have windstream for phone service .

I HAD Time Warner also but the bills kept going up and up so I called Verizon and within 5 days I have phone,internet(that is faster then road runner) and direct t.v..It all comes on 1 bill and it is $99.00 a month before tax.I also have unlimited long distance to any where in the US and have HBO,STARZ and ENCORE for the premium channels plus all regular channels.
Because I ordered it through the phone company and it is all on one bill, each service I got extra took and extra $5.00, 46.00 and $8.00 off my bill
Its great and I dont have to deal with T.W. and all the increases.Plus it was an added bonus to tell them to "pound salt!!!"

We just called Verizon this week and decided that Direct TV is the way to go with them. We have the freedom package for calling and this adds a lot of things to the service. After checking with them, for only $30 extra a month we can have tv in 4 rooms.. awesome deal. We were paying almost $60 for comcast, so this makes us thrilled. Soon I want to add the internet to it also and see what happens.

I have comcast...I pay $105 for DSL and Cable...I called a few months ago and they said no, nothing. I do this often, but now, I have ammo to go with. "I have a friend that blah blah ..." I'm going to be calling in the morning!! THank you!

If they will not lower your fees you could always cancel and sign up under your spouses name.

Got 'em down to about $111 but had to give up HBO (no big deal to me) & the second set top box for the spare TV in the computer room. With the AAA deal, DirecTV will still be cheaper - at least for a couple years. Think I'm gonna hold out a month though. March is a terrible time to be scheduling service changes with the basketball tourneys coming up.

Maybe TWC will cough it up when I'm really serious about cancelling!

Wish Verizon had TV service around here.......sounds like some pretty decent deals & they're already my cell provider.

We pay $45.00 a month for cable and internet and it is very fast. Only $18.00 of the bill is for the actual cable TV part as I feel it is a waste of time to pay for TV. we were actually going to cancel the cable altogether and then get an antenna. By just keeping internet with no cable they were going to charge us $10.00 for getting rid of cable. So we figured for the extra $8.00 a month, we'd just keep our basic cable.

We have a cable modem which offers the choice of fast, super fast, and extremely fast based on what you pay.. A computer wise friend informed me that a cable modem is a cable modem. We downgraded from the highest level to the lowest level and haven't notice a bit of a difference except in the pocket book...
