We did the same thing last year when we got our increase from the cable company. They lowered it by almost half because of a "promotion". Well our year is up and so is our bill so we gave them a call. they said they cannot do anything for 3 month. You have to pay a full 3 month full and then call back and they will put us on whatever promo is going on. Im ok with 3 months truth is i would have paid the 12 anyways so it pays to complain sometimes. We also always call the gas company as we never accept the price when it goes up and they have always reduced it.

Our Direct TV Bill and ATT bill have both recently gone up in price. The Direct TV bill went up on 3-7-08. I too called both companies and they have lowered our Direct TV Bill from $59.95 to $49.95 for two years with no contract. Our ATT bill went from $32.?? to $12.?? for six months (including internet service.) I just called to cancel service and they started negotiations. Interesting how they can raise and lower our prices at the drop of a hat...

We have Dish Network - no luck there EVER getting them to lower, or upgrade unless you get a new contract..... We had to go with a seperate satelite ISP as well...

I actually cut mine in half by doing this. Just goes to show you how much we over pay so much. Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

MAB are you time warner of Albany?? i tried to do that without any luck, do you remember what you said or how you phrased it? I tried I just got a 99 per month fios offer that is cheaper, but before I switch wanted to see if there is anhything you can do. looked up my accou nt and said cant do anything. thnanks

Wow, I really am behind times...I have been paying over 160.00 a month for just cable/internet...I will need to call comcast to discuss.. thanks for this thread... |

Timewarner STINKS (sorry to any TW employees). I have Dishnetwork.. pay around 45 per month with 250 channels and Cinemax (a one time charge of .99 with auto bill for 1 year). I have no home phone becuase I never used it -just cell with Sprint which has free nights after 7 and all weekends are free. Long distance is included too. I have no internet at home, but have had clearwire which worked very well but I don't want to pay $40 for access. I've done the whole bell south, earthlink, road runner thing and they worked great but I don't want all the extra BS.

Dang! We have Bright House here in teh Tampa Bay area....Bright House would not give us any better of a deal, so we started calling around, and every company that services this area is right about the same price! I have kind of felt like they have us over a barrel. I think Bright House knows that no one else will give a better deal, either, so they feel no pressure to lower our bill to keep us as customers. I hate this area when it comes to deal: companies don't care about competition, and there is no doubling of coupons, and NO BODY accepts internet coupons! Trying to become a "coupon queen" here is like banging your head against the wall until you're too brain damaged to be able to figure out how to do it at all! |

We have had dirctv for the past 5 years or so... we bought our dvr about 4 years ago and we were having problems so I called and a tech came out and literally blew up my dvr that I owned. And we recently upgraded to the hd/dvr. I was looking at my bill this month and it went up by like $30 when it was suppose to go up by only $10. I also noticed that it said that I was leasing my receivers when I bought them outright. So I called and asked them why it went so high and why it said I was leasing... they said that I was always leasing and that I never bought anything. I paid the $99 to lease the rights to have the dvr equipment and $214.xx to lease the rights to the hd. I told them that they can come and get their crap out of my house and remeburse my for all of the lies that I was told by many reps. The lady at the cancellation department finally gave me an extra $20 off a month for the next 3 years to off set those costs. I told her that we use to install their dishes and they still owe us over $5000 and they can credit that to our bill too, she didnt think she could do that. I told her that I have all of the paperwork and can prove it. She said that I should call this other number and I maybe able to get that money back. Lets hope, but definately not counting on it.
