Although I don't think I'll do a no spend January I do think I'll drastically reduce my budget in my groceries and drugstore categories. Also, absolutley no eating out!! That should help a ton. We are trying really hard to build a house this coming year and would like to beef up our down payment to as big as possible.

Hi Ladies, First I hope that you all had a wonderful XMAS. I have been so out of the loop this month with school and XMAS, but I did very well spending only 147.34 for the month, and I set the budget at 350.00. I did eat a lot out of my stockpile again this month so, January will be the month for me to restock! What a great feeling to be able to go 2 months and still have a stockpile left however; all the baking goods are gone!!! Everyone keep up the great work.

Target post holiday shopping trip.. spent $97. I went at 8am and there were so many people and carts overflowing with stuff. It was fun! Here is what I got.. Six 66qt sterilite storage boxes @ 4.48 each on clearance.. so glad these are made in the USA. I think the old models were on clearance.. the ones with red lids. Two 30 sq ft Reynolds Parchment paper @ 50 cents each after $1q Two 75 sq ft Reynolds Foil @ 95 cents each after 55 cent q Two 1lb pistachios in those cute bags..$5 each Walkers shortbread @ 2.50 each (my weakness) Bunch of LED lights, solar LED lights, ornaments, decoration, gifting stuff, etc at 50% off. I'll get more lights (if there are any)when they go 75% off. The yummy Lindt dark 70% bars were $1.24 each but I didn't get it. Then we stopped by Meijer to check out the 50% off perfume sets... the best ones were all gone. No davidoff, no jovan musk, etc  Thank goodness I got two sets during their B1G1 sale last month. I'll wait till CVS gets their perfume sets to 75% off. Last year when they had 90% off, the shelves were bare..  . I hate Expensive water!!!Spent $97 but this is from the Holiday shopping budget that was $100. ETA: Kroger clearance trip.. 4 pounds hazelnuts in shell @ $1.50 ea 4 pounds pecans in shell @ $2 ea. organic bananas @ 29 cents/lb a beautiful glass platter $2..its made in USA. I found so many plastic and glass christmas theme serveware that were local. So impressed. oop $17 Spent $254 on groceries this month.

I just posted the January thread. I'm clipping my Q's now to be prepared for clearances. I'm also trying to get my goals specifically outlined on paper. I'm tired of the insanity! You know, trying the same things, expecting different results. I'm so pumped for a fresh start!

Same here Brie....i will try to clean out my freezer and both refrigerates so i will have space for march sales....i will have to make menu and try to use as much as i can from stockpile....i am right on budget but will have to spend litlle bit more,will try to use coupons that exp 12/31....good luck everyone....

Going through my coupons today to look for "good" ones that will expire this week to use on some last minute shopping. Kinda hoping I don't find too many so I can keep my costs low as I really don't need anything with all the left-over ham and...chinese food we have in the fridge. LOL! My stash of coupons should go down significantly once I finish weeding out the 12/31/11 coupons. Does it seem like a really high percentage of coupons expire this week. At least it'll make room for new inserts! |

For December, I am at $326.80 spent ($27.91 was tax). That's right on target with my goal of $75 week, but I can't guarantee no more spending. We need milk, and I'll keep an eye on clearance. Last night and this morning, I got 138 items for less than $65 at Kroger! Good stuff that we need & use!

I have $22 of my $400 December budget left with milk in the fridge...even with going a little over on my donation category and having a fairly big Christmas party before Christmas. Trying to decide if I can resist pork tenderloin for $3.99....other than that nothing is really calling "buy me!".

Ran to the store for a few items needed for 2 parties we're attending tonight. $60 later I'm done for 2011. That put me over for the month, but I was able to use a few coupons expiring 12/31/11 and bought 1 item featured on savingstar.com. Here's hoping for a happy, healthy and prosperous (yet frugal!) 2012!!  |

Ended the year pretty well. I was $2.50 under my grocery budget but that was due to the $50 gift card my DH got from his work. Even so, that still would not have been too bad. We were about $50 over on eating out which I am OK with given that includes taking my parents out to eat twice and DH's parents once and the travelling we did over the holiday. I was $12 over on my work lunch budget which was terrible. January should be better since I won't be doing my Christmas shopping over lunch and just grabbing something. No idea how January will go with a week away...will be interesting to see what happens! |
