Sears / Kmart is at it again.
Last week I bought 6 pairs of various MLB team sandals (comfy gel foam kind) for the family. I paid 38.53 oop and earned $38.10 in points. Unfortunately none were the Royals but we still all got teams/ designs that we liked.

Sunday, Sears was running a deal on small kitchen appliances. With various coupons and surprise points that I had in my acct and because earned points were rolling, I ended up getting the twins each a blender, a crockpot and a 4slice toaster for $2.25 each. A crockpot wasn't on my initial list for them but I couldn't pass up for $2.25. I'm pretty sure one will use it, and I'm pretty sure the other one won't use anything but a microwave for the rest of his life.

While at Kmart picking up my shoes, I walked around and found some clearance in the kitchen dept. I found a cooking utensil holder for $1, a package of 5 cheap paring knives for $0.50 and a package of 2 rubber spatula/scrapers for $0.25. I got 2 of each for the twins totes.

So far my twins move out totes running total is $119.50, which puts me right on target money wise.

Made an extra $50 cash working a couple of hours 'on call' at home Sunday night.

Price matched a pair of shoes that I bought a week before to get $30 refund.

Found a brand of bread that my husband likes <almost> as well as his usual $5.99 a loaf name brand. New bread costs between $1 - $2 per loaf, depending on sale price, so quite a savings each week for his lunch that he takes.

I love nice one time savings but nothing beats regular savings like $4+ per loaf!

Speaking of bread...I was in dollar tree this weekend and picked up a loaf of Sara Lee honey wheat and also a package of lenders bagels. Each with use by dates late this week. The bread runs $2.99 and bagels $3.99 at grocery so a good savings. Bought an extra of each for the freezer!

Had 26 dollars worth of points and 5 bucks in surprise points to use for Sears/Kmart, got four pillows that we needed. Zero oop then ended up with a 7/7 clothes coupon.

Hi pmr-missed you-that's a nice hefty rebate on the contacts!

Free Breakfast Buffet on Saturday @ Golden Corral for DH's Birthday.

We purposely went at 10:15 AM for Breakfast & Lunch starts at 10:30 AM, so we get the Lunch specials we enjoy-Pot Roast & Shrimp.
Mine is $2.50 off of Lunch price since I pay for Breakfast & stay. DH's co-worker shared that strategy with us, boy, is it busy.
Both meals=$6.15 + $4 tip, paid for with my Rodale rebate.

Safeway/Albertson's has a coupon until tomorrow 4/18 to cut on their Ad front page for:
Lucerne Butter $1.49/lb limit 2. Lowest price locally since 2009.

My local Walmart still Ad-Matches & said I could use the Walmart store brand Butter since they don't have the Lucerne store brand, got lucky.

Stocked up on 20lbs of Butter for the freezer, good for 10 months in our Chest Freezer, then it tastes stale. Now I'm good thru Christmas.

Last Friday, Sears had a great deal on Reebok running shoes. I'm not a big tennis shoe wearing person so I haven't had a pair in several years. And I probably wouldn't have even thought about getting any however, I got a treadmill last year and need a pair. I ended up getting 2 pairs - paid $57 in earned points, $5 in surprise points and $0.95 in cash and got back $30 in points. They were delivered today so can't wait to try them out tonight.
I called my mom and told her the deal. She got 2 pairs (1 for her and 1 for my daughter) and paid $17 in earned points, $8 in surprise points and $44 cash and got back $51 in points. She was quite happy because she has been casually shopping for a new pair and she's getting ready to buy a new washer and dryer so she's fine racking up the points to use.

One of our grocery stores sent out an email for a free case of water - limit 1 per rewards card. I got one, my mom got one and I made my daughter put an email and register her reward card so she could also get a free case of water.

While at the store getting my water, I needed to get some groceries for family dinner and found a coupon for $2 off $2 in produce. Whoot Whoot!!! I got 10 lbs of potatoes for $0.98, daughter got cucumbers and lemons with her coupon. Since the store is right down the street from my house, I plan on hitting it every night on my drive home from work to get a coupon. Hoping to start seeing more of these coupon displays out at the stores.

smaustin - envious of your $2/$2 produce coupons!

I buy basics at Penneys ... towels, socks, underwear, bras, kitchen items, etc. They send me $10/$10 coupons often, so I get one of these basic items mostly free every month or two with a coupon. I also buy a $100 gift card to keep on hand. They give me a $25/$25 promo coupon for buying the gift card. I use the g.c. for the couple of dollars that I end up paying in tax or a few dollars for the 'out of pocket' portion.

I had my eye on a dress for an upcoming graduation. It was on sale for Easter, I used a $10 off coupon, and ordered it through a cash back site. Long story short, the dress ended up costing me about $16 after the coupon and cash back reward.

Three dozen free eggs last week, I'll scramble them this weekend and freeze to take for my breakfasts at work.

Haven't been frugal but haven't been terribly not frugal.
Trying to work from home when I can to save on gas.

Haven't spent any money at work on food but continue to get a coke sometime thru out the day. I'm trying to break my coke habit and refuse to buy any at the store to bring in, but I think I'm going to have to admit I'm weak and can't give it up and buy a 12pk to bring into the office.

Have been stopping by a couple of grocery stores on my way home (just a little bit out of my way) to pick up $2 off $2 produce coupons and $1 off $1 meat coupons - handed out by customer service. Haven't found any great sales on meat and I'm still pretty stocked in my freezer so saving the meat ones until I can either find a great deal or need something...they don't expire until June. I have been utilizing the produce one for whatever we are eating that night for dinner (potatos, corn on cob, salad, lettuce, etc).

My mom needed a new washer and dryer. She went this past weekend because MO was having some green tax savings weekend on energy star appliances. Her total before tax was $880, she had $110 in earned points, $35 in surprise points and had loaded a 15% back in points. She ended up paying $825 oop (880 - 110 earned points - 10 surprise points + 65 tax. And she earned $7 in points on the purchase). I told her to call SYW and figure out what happened to the points. After her call, she got $35 in points for the surprise points that should have worked but didn't and $207 in points for her % coupon (I have no idea why so much). She then called the Sears store to find out why she got charged tax, after 3 people (2 mgrs.) and various different excuse that were lies (2 people told her that she did save on her tax - they told her that state tax was 8% and county tax was 8% and she saved the state 8% tax ..... ummmm, no where in MO is sales tax 16% on a washer and dryer!!!!) the 2nd mgr apologized and said that even though her dryer was energy star, the matching washer wasn't so she couldn't get the tax savings on either since they were a set. WTH??? But he did say that he would give her back the tax on the dryer via points on her SYW card + $25. I checked her SYW acct today and the $25 is not there but she said she was tired of it all and wasn't calling back. so she paid $825 oop but ended up with $249 in points that she is going to use on a new dishwasher.

Still on the lookout for items for the twins "move out" totes but haven't found any great deals (have gotten a few little things this month). Current amt spent is $131.50 out of $160 budget thru April.

My mom's washer and dryer are ready for pickup from the store so hubby and I are picking it up tonight and driving them down to the lake house. He will install them for her. Because we are doing this ourselves, she didn't have to pay for delivery or new hoses - savings of at least $100 (probably more since delivery is 128 miles away).
While down there this weekend, hubby will mow and weed-eat and I want to clean out her freezer and take inventory of her pantry so we know what is needed for the big 4th of July week long stay with the whole family.

I had $7/7 Sears Clothing surprise points that I used for a pair of leggings. I had them shipped to the same store as where my mom's washer and dryer are so that I'm saving a trip. I will pick them up tonight also.

We had hoagies the other night for dinner and had leftover ingredients so making sandwiches to eat on the drive down tonight - saving time and money.

Looking forward to a kid free / dog free weekend at the lake!

Got home from the lake and I saw that Sears was having a Friends & Family sale. My mom is still in need of one more washer for her house in the city. It's just her and she's not sure how much longer she will keep the house up here before she fully retires to the lake so she was wanting something smaller than what she just got for the lake and something very cheap. We went and found a Kenmore 3.6 on sale for $271. Because of the washer and dryer she just bought and me doing sweeps for her, she had $265 in points on her syw card. Total after tax was $7.50.

After Sears, we hit the stores that had the $1 off $1 meat coupons. We each got one coupon at each of the stores and then went back to the meat counter and we each got one premade burger. They were on sale for $2 each but you got back $0.05 in gas on each one. So....$2- $1 coupon = pay $1 oop but get back $0.05 x 20 gal = $1. Free pre-made burgers. We are going to get more tonight at each of the stores and freeze them for 4th of july weekend. I hate making burgers!!!! so I'm super happy to get them for free after gas.

havent been on for awhile but I LOVE this thread.

Today I complained at CVS about not getting credit for my prescription refills. The pharmacist hopefully fixed it and gave me a free $5 EB. Yay! I was planning on getting some loreal eye shadow that is on sale, i have a coupon and get EB back.

Had a bag of recycling that i put in our recycle bin. No bag needed so I saved a garbage bag.

We have been wanting a carpet cleaner for awhile.... Amazon has the Hoover Carpet Cleaner SteamVac with Clean Surge Carpet Cleaner Machine F5914900 for 69.99 normally $131. We have $40 in GC from Crowdtap. Just in time for all the graduations ( instead of paying for someone or renting one)

Unfrugal:
Have had a horrible week / weekend and unfortunately had to put $3200 on the credit card for a vet bill. (Our family dog got hit by a car Friday night and we had to put him down. The guy that hit him is also coming after me for his car repairs, (he was more interested in me looking at his car damage than me trying to get my dog to an ER vet when it happened) so I'm sure I'm going to have another $2000+ bill coming to me this week.) My neighbors told me that he waited around for about an hour after we left to go to the vet and was taking pictures of our house and then kept driving by later in the night (we were at the vet for about 5 hours that night). So we need to start scrimping and saving so we can pay off the vet and the horrible guy.

Frugal -
We used my daughter's boyfriends truck to take Waldo to the vet and we got blood all over the carpet. She was able to use some cleaner that she already had at the house and was able to get all the blood out. I also gave her my clothes that I was wearing to see if she could salvage them. fingers are crossed.

My cousin died last Wednesday and my Aunt & Uncle want to do a celebration of life in June and want to have hamburgers and hotdogs. My mom offered to bring all the meat, chips, buns and condiments. So Saturday, my mom and I went out couponing (I needed to get out of the house and was glad for the distraction) and were able to get more meat and produce coupons that will be used for this event. I'm hoping we can #1 find premade burgers with gas points and after coupons making them free and #2 that we can find enough coupons to get enough meat without having to spend any money on the burgers. (we already had some pre-made burgers bought and in the freezer that we were going to use for 4th of july, we are going to use those for the celebration of life and hope to get more coupons closer to july that we use to replace those, otherwise, we will revise the meal plan and cook something that one of us has in the freezer already)

My uncle is going to do a garage sale down at the lake 4th of July weekend to sell some of the things my cousin had (couch, chair, bed, etc) so I'm gathering up items to go along with his garage sale. My mom said she would take items down there every weekend as she goes down as I give them to her. Our car is normally so packed with all of our stuff for 4th of July that I wouldn't have room in just that one trip.

I had bought 4 big bags of dog food a few weeks back when there was a sale with gas points and coupons. We still had 2 unopened bags and another opened bag that I gave to my daughter for her pups this weekend. We will give her the kennel too or take it to the lake so she's got less to pack and travel with - what ever she wants to do.

Everyone was hot and cranky this weekend but I wouldn't let anyone turn on the air. We need to hold out as long as we can. As long as the windows are open and the ceiling fans are going, it's not that terrible. Today was supposed to get up to 91 degrees so hopefully those that were home stayed strong and didn't turn it on.

Since I can't seem to break my coke habit at work, I broke down and bought a 6 pack of 16oz bottles for $1.67 + tax. I had been spending $1.63 each day from our café at work for 1 bottle. Once these (12) 6pks are gone, I'm quitting coke. Fingers crossed on this one too.

This week is going to be a better week!

smaustin so sorry for your pup

This week is "freezer week" where we eat just those delectables lurking in the darkness. It's usually a hodgepodge of leftovers and cheap eats we stocked up on. DS isn't coming home nearly as much any more so we'll stop stocking up on things like frozen pizza but don't want to waste what we have.

Goddessoflubbock That's what we're doing too. Although we did get great deals on veggies, hamburger, sausage and tom sauce and paste,so we are spending the weekend making up two huge pots of sauce. Nothing like having bags of Daddy sauce in the freezer. I'm also going to make about 6 huge lasagnas....

Today will be a no-spend day! It looks rainy and gloomy so we will stay in and get organized and rested up for the new week

Around Mothers day, and mostly for experiment purposes with DS5, we planted some seeds from a green pepper we had used in a salad. At no cost, we used some dirt from the side yard flower bed and an old strawberry container. To my surprise it is beginning to sprout!

I recently re-organized our oversized silverware drawer. Picked up some skinny plastic trays at the dollar tree (while I was there buying some nesquik for the ibotta rebate). It was $1 for the pack of 4 and it ended up working out perfectly.

Last summer I had picked up some forks at Goodwill for .05 cents each with the intention of putting corks on the tops and making them into garden markers. I ended up not being able to find the bag full of corks I had saved so the forks were just sitting unused. Toward the end of the school year, it occurred to me that I could just be using these forks for school lunches instead of purchasing plastic utensils. DD14 liked having actual sturdy utensils to use and I don't mind if they don't find their way home!

Been spacing out redeeming my Ibotta receipts if I have something to redeem. My "any item" rebate seems to reset every 2 days so even if I have something to submit, I wait until that one resets to try to at least get an extra .25 out of each submission.

Cashed in some Ibotta money to purchase a Wal-mart gift card and used that last weekend to purchase hot dogs, buns, chips, baked beans, cookies and soda for our small memorial day celebration.

There is a Goodwill next to that walmart so we stopped in because it was half price on blue tags and an extra 20% off if you spent $20. We ended up getting DD14 a romper and 4 tops (one brand new with tags) as well as 2 candy dishes for $16!

I only spent $14 at the produce store and $30 at the grocery store yesterday and don't plan on going back to the store until next weekend. The meal plan this week is all done up until Friday. And since we'll be home today, I will prep the veggies and make the pasta sauce and enlist the kids to make rice crispy treats.

Part of that $30 at the grocery was for 4 boxes of cereal that are marked for the kelloggs/fandango promotion and I will submit that receipt towards a movie ticket even though I will still need to purchase 2 more items within the next couple of months. Posting the link for you guys too...I have found that with the decline of good coupons available, these are the types of things I am taking advantage of more and more to save money.

A few years back I bought a men's oversize watch online that I thought I wanted. When the watch arrived, it was way to heavy and bulky for me to be able to wear. I didn't return the watch in time for a refund (a terrible non-frugal fault of mine). Offered it to my husband, who didn't want it either. And so it went into a drawer, forgotten until recently. Found a site online that buys watches, jewelry and similar items. Had paid $100 for the watch, got $40 back for selling it - and learned a lesson.

It is easy to buy things you don't need, and harder to get rid of things you don't need!

Kudos to husband who bit the bullet and replaced the clogged pipe in the bathroom by himself. Saved us $$ calling a plumber, and going forward, saved us from buying many more bottles of drain declogger!

I've tried to pass my frugal ways on to my kids, with some success. My son is my big success story though.

He kept talking about the Mother's Day gift I was going to love. I reminded him he needs to be saving, I know he loves me. He was very frugal! The lady who takes photos for the fire and EMS crew took several shots ofDS with ambulances a fire trucks but also interesting backgrounds like a weathered barn. He printed them at the pharmacy, the best one he did 8x10 and framed it. He also gave me prints of various sizes of all the pictures.

It cost him under $5 and made me very happy!
