DH cut my hair Thursday night with the Flowbee. I've saved a fortune using it.

We ate some soup I had stockpiled since neither of us felt up to a full meal. Dinner - $1.50 for two.

DS changed the thermometer in his car himself. Also found a couple parts he needed at the U-pull-it.

Glad to see some new activity on this site. Haven't posted a lot lately, but I still enjoy reading about how everyone is doing their best to save.

DH needed a new suit, so we headed to Kohls on Sat morning when items are discounted the most.

I planned ahead and did the following:

1) Before we left, I bought $100 worth of Kohl GC at local grocery store giving 4x gas points using 2% cash back credit card (equals $12 in gas + $2 in cash back)
2) Had $5 off anything "coupon" + 30% off coupon
3) Learned that they were offering $10 for every $50 spent for future purchase (we got $30)

The original bill was about $450 before any savings (ok I realize NO ONE pays the list price at Kohls!); our total came to about $150 (or $50 OOP after applying $100 in gift cards). Plus, we still have the $30 to spend, PLUS $12 in gas credit and $2 back on my cash card for buying the gift cards. So, we figure the suit, shirt and tie all netted out to $106!!

Even DH was very impressed!

I picked up two small flashlights for $2 and got another one free...also got 24 batteries for them FREE.....AND, got a coupon for another 24 package of batteries and more flashlights FREE.....These are for my shoeboxes....I'm getting there....still have six months...hopefully I will have enough flashlights....

I missed using a $1 coupon for two Sudden Salad I purchased...they were $1 each....I could have gotten them for .50 each....I never thought I would buy it but I make dinner for a pregnancy center I volunteer at and thought it would go well with the .77 hot dogs I picked up last week....Oh well, you can't win them all....

I spent more than planned this weekend, was just supposed to go to Walmart and that was it but DH found a ton of yard sales happening this past Saturday so we had to hit them up and it was worth it.

Bought:

Disney Princess Walker (almost brand new) $5, DD will need it down the line.
2 folding camping chair (almost brand new) $5 each, I have been wanting these chair for over a year.
GPS $5, will be a gift for little sister
Then a whole bag of stuff for $9, a dr. brown's bottle warmer with 4 bottles, 2 bathing suites for DD next year, 2 wooden corner shelf, 2 piece outfit for DD next year, and Under Armor jogging suite for DD next year.

Not bad for money I didn't plan on spending but when the deals are hot they are hot.

Safeway has select gift cards $10/$50 for Father's Day. Purchased 2 x $50 Lowes G.C.s - there is always something we need for the home or garden. Used my rewards CC to pay for them. DH says 'Can I buy those too'?? Yes dear, you certainly can! One per transaction.

Red Robin put a mailer slick sheet in with the grocery ads yesterday. Two coupons - $5/$25 purchase and 50% off any gourmet burger, entree, sandwich or salad. Perfect to use with the G.C. we already have.

Almost took an impromptu vacation for the weekend before my husband goes back to work. He has not work much since Jan. (Furloughed with BNSF) But instead we got a family gym membership so we could swim all year for $152.00. With meals I figured we save $300 and the kids were happy.
I am going back to couponing now that grad school is over. (I graduate in August)
Bought Campbells Chicken n noodle (large cans with thick noodles) on clearance for .49 at HEB. I bought all the had (10 cans).
Found a three day horse back riding camp instead of 5 days for less than half of the 5 day one. They even gave me a sibling discount.
Waiting to shop at the outlet when Oshkosh and Carters go 40% off Clearance (usually in July)

-Sold some cloth diapers I never ended up using with baby girl. I got them for a steal---brand new the whole lot was $11! I sold them via Facebook to a local family for $30. These normally retail for over $100, so $30 was a nice tiny profit for me and still a great deal for the family.

-Ran errands in a loop to save on gas. DH took the guzzler and I drove the small car since I didn't have the baby with me, so saved on gas from planning the loop AND driving the car with better gas mileage.

-Exchanged a baby gift that was the wrong season/size for baby. It was from Carters and they would only do an exchange so I had to shop on the spot. Since baby doesn't need much but her big sisters need shorts I was able to use the exchange to get some shorts for the big girls and a gift for a friend expecting a baby!

-WHile doing the typical library stop I found some great books on the used book sale shelf for DD7 & DD10. I'll save them as Christmas presents.

-Travelled with a big bottle of frozen water to keep it from getting hot while running errands (108 here!).

-Continuing to use the odds and ends in the freezer. One week to finish it up!

Its been a full week, my first week back at work (not a full week only 4 days) and i'm so tired.

Anyway DH and I carpooled every day I went to work, we where worried we wouldn't be able to car pool with day care but it looks like it will work out for a while. So gas savings and mile savings.

I saw in the ad that they had the 93/7 ground beef on sale again this week. Stopped at Safeway on the way home and sure enough they had it marked down 50% to $2 lb. Got a couple of big packages to put in the freezer.

Last week was good for stockup prices for some of my basics.

Printed off some coupons in black and white, using scrap paper and maximizing use of paper. Turned printer off and not left on standby when done. Made sure dishwasher was packed full before I ran it. Opened doors and windows first thing in the morning to cool apartment down. Same at night. Run air conditioning only when 82. Had large cobb salad for dinner ~ no cooking required.

Dropped my car off at the dealership for a free detail. Took two hours so my daughter picked me up and we went groc shopping to get food for a family dinner for fathers day tomorrow. We stopped at a store that had a coupon at cust serv for $3 off meat. Normally handed out as 1 per customer. The cs mgr asked if we wanted more. Yes please. We ended up getting 4 KC strips (10oz each), 3lbs of sirloin steak and 10 hamburger patties for $11.15. The KC strips were $5 each but the rest of the meat we tried finding pkgs that were $3.05-$3.50 each, that way we weren't paying more than $0.50 for any pkg. We also got 2pkgs of Oreo cookies and a gallon of milk for $1.50 after coupon and gas points. I've been working a ton this week and never even looked at the groc ads this week or I would have been getting everyone oreos and milk...well maybe just the milk and I would have kept the oreos at my house. Lol.

DH and I had to return some closetmaid closet sections to home depot, he bought way to much stuff for DDs closet. After doing return checked out the closet/storage section because next project is our walk in closet. Found all the piecses we bought for DDs closet where 75% off.

Back to customer service for benefit of sale, her entire closet now it cost us less then original price of the starter kit, which wasn't enough stuff.

So great deal price, looks great, added use able space to closet to keep us organized, and when the time comes to sell should be a plus for most buyer.

Quoting myself here. Was able to take this deal further.

Stella Artois beer has a mail in rebate (good in WA & OR, found at QFC). Buy $100 in Gift Cards plus any combination totaling 24 cans or bottles of Stella Artois and receive $50 rebate.

There are also several rebates for the beer on Ibotta.

My out of pocket will end up $51.48 for $100 in Gift Cards and a case of beer.

Instead of using TJ's GF Pizza Crusts in the produce section $2/2, 44 Carb, 200 Cals, used TJ's Brown Rice Tortillas for $0.50ea, 22 Carb & 130 Calories.

Used a non-stick Frypan for the whole process with a frozen Rice Tortilla. Browned both sides with scant Butter & held it down with a can until it thaws, because it bubbles. Then add TJ's Pizza Sauce about 2T., sprinkle Parmesan & Basil, top with 1oz Mozzarella-260 Calories for 6 slices.
Now when DH orders his wonderful smelling Pepperoni Pizza from Papa John's, I don't feel deprived.

Trader Joe's sell their Brown Rice Tortilla's with 2-4 days to expiration due to shipping issues, $3/6ct.
Asked the Mgrs at 3 stores if I could get a discount if I bought all of them, some 2 days to exp., all said no. They still sell them for full price on exp. date!

They freeze well, since they have parchment paper between each Tortilla.
Per Pizza Crust, I save $0.50, 22 Carbs & 70 Calories, tastes better & no Blood Sugar spikes.

We are taking advantage of a neighborhood free recycle event. Getting rid of some basement stuff that we would otherwise have to pay to get rid of. Old vaccume, broken hedge trimmer, mower that still works but isn't good, etc. Loading it in the vehicle and getting it out of here.

Re-used Charitable Giving return envelopes with a Forever Stamp, covered the writing with blank labels. We give online monthly, but they still send these.

It's free money we used to throw away. It perks me up to have #14 of these worth $7!

Hello frugal friends!!

-redeemed some codes from granola bar boxes for fandango movie credit to see Finding Dory. Took the little guy this morning...$4.50 for 2 tickets. And took a bag of gummy bears that were free with coupon as a snack!

-movie theatre is right next door to target so stopped in for .37 crest kids toothpaste and to post redeem a coupon for the angry birds ziploc bags I picked up for cheap a couple days ago. Used a shopkick gift card so no real $ OOP. Also, always bring my own bags for the additional .05 off. And I'm not too shy to ask for it when the cashier inevitably forgets.

-walked to library yesterday so no gas used in the car. Got a mess of books, a movie and a Nintendo game for DS.

-on the walk home, stopped at a yard sale and snagged a brand new mouse for my computer for a buck. Mouse malfunctioned so whole computer has been out of commission for a couple weeks. At least I can still print Q's from my phone though.

-picked enough strawberries from the garden to make a little afternoon snack. Green peppers are also growing like crazy!!

-picked up an eclectic mix of forks at goodwill for .10 each. Going to use these along with some old wine bottle corks to make garden markers.

-cut a couple pair of DS's jeans (still fit in waist but too short in length) into shorts to play outside in.

-DD wore out her iPod charging cord and was needing one before she left for summer vacation. I was so proud when she redeemed for an Amazon gift card on Swagbucks and purchased it herself!

-checkout 51 seems to be hot with the deals lately so I have been able to cash out $40 in the past 2 months alone. Have the $ in an envelope in my purse marked as Christmas money. Already purchased a Disney crochet set at SAMs club for DD for $11!

-speaking of SAMs...did a deal a couple months ago to get the plus membership for $45. Then receive a $25 GC along with a free chicken, side of mashed potatoes and apple pie. All these freebies essentially making the membership free. So now I'm purchasing a little meat, occasionally produce (mushrooms especially) and always milk. Can't really beat $1.50 a gallon around here.

-went to a church rummage sale where they were giving out grocery bags and charging $5 for however much clothing you could stuff into the bag. Snagged a lot of cute children's pieces to resell in the fall consignment sale I participate in. If all the pieces sell, I should make about $25 for a mere $5 investment. And a bonus find for myself to stuff in the bag, a Victoria's Secret strapless bra...new with tags...in my size!

We started our 45 day vacation on Thursday. Most of this will not be frugal, but here's the way we do our best while not stressing on vaca. This summer break is one of the reasons we are frugal the rest of the year.

-Turned the AC up to 86 while we are away (the house needs to still be air conditioned so there's no damage while we are away). The change from 80 to 86 saves about $50-$70 per month.

-Ordered Amazon baby stuff to be delivered to my sister. They shipped the wrong baby food. Wrote Amazon because we have no way to return right now. Amazon's reply---a full credit plus keep the food (which we can use so bonus).

-Airport hotel included breakfast so ate a full breakfast before getting on the road.

-Stayed at a hotel with free airport shuttle then picked up our rental car from a non-airport rental location. This saves us over $1400 on our 45 day rental.

-Drove north with a planned route including Whole Foods and Costco. Used a family discount at Whole foods (20% off) to buy some allergy friendly items and a few organic staples. Then, Costco to buy items for the family BBQ. While at Costco got the kids lunch ($1.50 hot dog with seltzer/lemonade) and shared a Costco Beef Brisket sandwich with DH. Also, got gas at Costco. Used my Chase Freedom Visa with 5% cash back at both stores!

-Our beach hotel room doesn't include breakfast but has a kitchen so the groceries help keep costs down. Our family is staying in a house nearby so we have dinner there every night which really helps!

-The beach hotel is across from the beach so we save the beach parking fees ($2/hour) by walking to the beach instead of parking closer. Bonus-less gas used!

-Tempted to take the upgrade at the hotel with the awesome view but decided to stay put and enjoy the view we have and save the $100 per night!
