Piano Hunting...

Well... we are persuing an avenue for one of our kiddos here. We would like to purchase a piano so that they can start up lessons. I feel SO overwhelmed with this rather large purchase. we are currently researching things and I am wondering if anyone might have any tips? (Outside the usual: 1. Have a technician check it before buying it. 2. Be wary of a piano that has not been played in years or may have sat in a garage or basement for extended periods of time. 3. Generally be careful before buying... hehe...)

I like the sound of the Everret Console so far, but I've only checked out a few pianos. I'd like to avoid spinerts? spinats? Can't spell that!!! I'd like to avoid those for now if we could. I am not fond of their sound so much.

At any rate, thanks for any ideas!!!

PS-Yes, I've looked at ebay, peddler's post and craigs list. Will be checking classifieds on Sunday.

I'm actually a music teacher and musician. I've taught for the past 12 years and played hmmmm seems like forever! I recently considered selling my own piano because with two little ones I just don't have the time to play anymore nor the energy to teach. I'm partial to the Yamaha. They have a great pure tone. I think your local craigslist is a GREAT place to find a piano. I for one would LOVE to see a picture after you've bought it!! :-) Another option would be to call some of the local piano teachers or music (sheet music) stores...they may know where to find a good used piano.

If you know someone that can check it over for you, you might want to watch Craigs List - frequently see pianos there for free if you are willing to move them.

Well... Hubbie is going to pick it up right now!!!!

So excited! And terrified... we stayed in our budget, but this is still a pretty sizeable purchase. I know our little one is so excited though so it will be worth it.

We have ended up witha Cable Nelson 1985 39" piano. It could either be a really tall spinett or a short console, however you wanna look at it. HAHAHA It's not top of the line, but it's in our price range and has the nicest sound of all the piano's we looked at this weekend. Plus it's been tuned recently, used the entire time this owner has had it, been in the house and was spotlessly clean!

I'll share pictures once we get it all settled.

Sooo sorry it's taken so long to post this picture!! I've been incredibly busy. We found out from our piano technician that we got one awesome deal on this piano! YAY!!! It's perfect and we are very happy to have it. Piano lessons have already started with our kiddo and everything is going well there too.

Here's a picture:

Guess you gotta click the link to go there. Can't get it to load in the post. odd...

It's a console! I was so hoping for a console and not a spinnett (sp?). So glad we went for this....
