Can you freeze crescent rolls/cinnamon rolls

I thought I saw this in a thread awhile back but I wasn't sure. The Kroger near my house has a descent sale going on with crescent rolls and cinnamon rolls and I was going to stock up. I know they tend to have a long expiration date and I would probably use them by that time but would rather freeze them if that is possible.

Has anyone frozen them? Did they burst in the freezer, I guess that is my biggest fear? If you did freeze them how did they come out?

Busting out all over!

I would guess this too. I would really think that they would burst open when they expanded alittle with the freezing! WHAT A MESS that would be!
Ofcourse you could cook them and then freeze...that would work OK.

Cooking them and freezing them is a good idea, I think I will try that option. My Schnucks has them on sale free after the coupon this week so I'm going to stock up!

I read where one person will go ahead and "pop" theirs then freeze them. Guess they have to put them in a bag though?

I just put them in the freezer. No bag or anything. They don't pop open (or they never have anyway!). To defrost just put them in the fridge for most of the day. They cook up just fine.

I freeze my roll cylinders as well, but I have had one pop open in the freezer. Didn't make too much of a mess because I got to it right away - it sounded like a gun went off in my freezer!

I've also opened the cylinder, made the cresscent/roll, frozen them individually on a cookie sheet, then transferred to a freezer bag. I like that better, as a whole cylinder of rolls is too much for the 3 people in my family. I can get 2 meals out of a typical cylinder if I do it this way. No waste - I cook up what I need - and they thaw faster.

I also have a bunch of these coupons... but I did not want to buy to many because they always go bad. Like others have said a roll could last up to 2 meals here.

But I do have question for Mavourneen.. when you say you "made the cresscent/roll, frozen them individually on a cookie sheet" does that mean you cook them or freeze them raw?

But I do have question for Mavourneen.. when you say you "made the cresscent/roll, frozen them individually on a cookie sheet" does that mean you cook them or freeze them raw?

I know this question wasn't directed to me, but I hope it's okay if I throw my two cents in! I open the package, "form" the crescent roll, place them on a cookie sheet (raw) in the freezer, then once they are frozen I pop them off and throw them in a freezer bag, uncooked. That way, since it is just my husband and me, I can just pull 2-4 out of the baggie at a time and cook them. I do the same with the cinnamon rolls. Just pull them apart, place them on the cookie sheet, then bag them once they have frozen. I wouldn't freeze the entire log of rolls because it would be nearly impossible to separate them once they were all frozen together.
