Here's How It Works:

1. Kids read any 8 books.

2. Kids use the Summer Reading Journal to tell us their favorite part of each book. A parent/guardian signs it when it's complete.

3. Students bring their completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 29th & September 2nd, 2008.

4. We'll give them a coupon for a FREE book! They choose from a list of exceptional paperback titles.*

* Eligible books will be listed on the coupon. Choices must be made from eligible stock. No special orders. Limit of 1 form per school-age child (grades 1-6), please. Incomplete forms will be ineligible for free books.

My daughter is reading 1st grade level so I am wondering if they will let her do this we homeschool this year. So I am going to try. Thank you

My daughter love all the reading programs she can do. Our local library does a really neat summer program each year and she is counting down till that one.

Our county libraries also have a summer reading program. At the end they raffle many good prizes and for every inch of books read kids get coupons for freebies at kids stores. We have participated the last three years.

Do they still do this? This is dated 2008... I was just wondering because my little girl can read and she hasn't even started kindergarten yet... but this would be a GREAT way to start stockin up on books for her.

I'm pretty new here so not sure where to post this - Reader's Digest (Sept 2009) has a section in the center called After School Special filled with advertisements and if you buy one product and send in the POP, you can receive a free RD children's book. POP is receipt dated between Aug 18 and Sept. 30. Eligible products are Glad Lasting Impressions plug-in, Pledge with Allergen Trappers, Ziploc Evolve bags, Sonic Limeades for learning, Horizon Milk boxes, and Oxi-Clean Laundry.
