Hi everyone, I just want to give a heads up to anyone who shops at Fred Meyer's. (I'm in Western Washington). The other night I was over charged big time. Here's the reason this has maddened me so: I purchased 3 bottles of coconut oil. The store's price on the sticky below read $7.49 PLUS another tag that read 20% off. When I got to my car and decided to look at my receipt, I was charged $7.99! What happened to the publicly advertised $7.49? Where was the additional 20% off as stated clearly on the shelf? I immediately went back and the customer service just shrugged her shoulders and said, too bad and refunded me $6. How many other times has this happened to me , only I didn't double check my receipts? I feel I need to be triple aware now or just not shop in a store that makes those kinds of mistakes. I don't know about you, but $6 is a lot of $.I emailed corporate but no response. During the same shopping trip, I used one of their FM coupons(tearpad)a 2/$4.This coupon was right under the product!!! When I got to the check out, the cashier said, "oh, I can't take that coupon, it's not for the same size!" That product only comes in 1 size! So she "let me use the coupon". BOGUS! Thanks for letting me vent, Moral of story: look at your receipts carefully every time, Thanks, Glowbuoy |

Ya know, this is why I hate shopping at this store. I can and have found deals, but it can be a tricky thing. Last week I went when the propel were 3/$1 and I had mfq's...I couldn't use the q's since they were .55/1. I get it...kinda... I know they are reimbursed, for the full .55 regardless of their own sale, but... And..then all those yellow "coupons" that they have under the product...mfq's? You can't use them at other stores...can you use other q's with them? I think it is hardest to deal with coupons there and so I usually don't even bother. Last week just happened to be good since it was their "anniversary" sale. Trim Juice was on sale with the inad q for $1.50 and there was a $1 blinkie at the product....they allowed this...making it .50 each..but ya just never know if it will work out right.

I use to feel the same way about FM. I have found that since I started couponing almost ALL stores overcharge and I put in effort to always double check my receipts. I have been finding some great deals at FM lately to my surprise, and our has become more coupon friendly in the last couple of months. I'm not sure if other stores will accept the yellow FM coupons. They should because they do say manufacture on them so there is really no reason they shouldn't. I know that in our region FM has started doubling coupons, (this is in our area, though not at the one in our town just yet.) and they are accepting other "store" coupons if they say manufacture on them. so today I used 3 coupons 2 safeway catalina coupons for $10 oyno and one albertson coupon for $10 oyno and I had zero problems getting them to accept them, and no beeps. one of the cashiers told me no we don't accept them, and when I told her that I had used one earlier she said "well lets see if the machine accepts them" she said she was willing to take it because the register accepts it.

I wouldnt dream of leaving a store without checking my receipt first Its not that Im presuming they're trying to rip me off or anything but come on! People are only human & mistakes can be made. Its MY hard earned cash! Why wouldnt I make sure I'm not overcharged & while Im STILL in the store?!? YMMV...

mistakes happen at all stores. Safeway makes quite a lot of mistakes but I either catch them before I leave the store or at home and just go back to customer service and usually have no problems at all getting an adjustment. I am shopping at Fred Meyer a lot more than I have before and finding so many really awsome deals lately too. Got free Litehouse Dips yesterday with the $1.00/1 insert couons that expire 12/31/09. Not sure if the sale ended yesterday on the dips, they were BOGO 2 for $4 so I just used 2 $1/1 coupons and got them both for free. Yay! Keep posting those awsome deals tripletsnthree6. Your a peach!

I will have to take a look and see if the dip is still on sale. I always love free! Thanks for mentioning it.. I think there are good deals to be had, but not a lot of people post about them. I try to post about ones I find...but, just cause I think they are a good deal, doesn't mean that everyone else does. |

there is a lot more activity at other sites. That's how I've been finding all the deals lately. Blogs like the one freezingjsalyers has really helps me find good deals and coupon match ups too.

Its been really hit or miss for me the service I get at Fred Myers. I live near two of them. At one I almost always have issues, either over charged some $ or my coupons become some big issue "your going to use ALL those coupons" um yeah I have only 10 of them . At the other the service is friendly, coupon cool and just a better vibe. Thanks for the PSA and hope your next shopping trip there is better. |

I RARELY shopped FM (I'm just more of a Target girl, what can I say? LOL) before the Issaquah store mailed me the 10% off card for ALL my purchases from Oct-Nov7th in honor of the store 'grand re-opening'. Having that little red card got me in the door several times this past month, and I have to admit that FM may make it in to my regular 'rotation' (and it's pretty full given that I already shop Albertson's, Target, Safeway, Whole Foods, Costco, the list goes on and on! ![]() One thing I really liked was the 'one stop shopping' with groceries and household items under one roof (although I have to say I don't see myself making too many home purchases there, I just find the Target stuff more reflective of my personal style ) I didn't find the prices to be super competitive (seems Safeway and Albie's have better grocery deals) BUT they carry more organic/allergy friendly items which is really important for our family as DS has MULTIPLE food allergies-and that stuff is competitive with Whole Foods/PCC plus I can get my DD her 'mainstream' snacks without making a separate trip just for DS's stuff, which is a perk for our family. As for the register errors, I hadn't caught any there but I wouldn't be surprised (I'm not surprised anywhere! With thousands of items in any store, and then weekly changes affecting hundreds of those, it's just bound to happen and only the most alert cashiers track the circulars well enough so I can't expect to rely on them to catch mistakes...) In fact, this week I missed a $15 catalina from Albies and didn't realize it until I got home, so I will be taking cluttercollector's advice and checking ALL my receipts before hitting the parking lot from now on! |
