Food Lion plans to unveil several upgrades in stores across the region Wednesday and to give away groceries to celebrate the changes.

The first 200 customers when the doors open at each Food Lion supermarket – 87 locations in Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore and 15 in northeastern North Carolina – will receive a free bag of Food Lion’s private-label products. The bags will hold “a variety of items,” from crackers and cereal to aluminum foil, said Christy Phillips-Brown, a spokeswoman for Delhaize America, the U.S. division of the Belgian company that owns Food Lion..

My stores open at 7 am...and a few are open 24 hours but I'm guessing the freebies would not be handed out until after 7 am.

I went at about 10:00. The store was pretty empty and there was a guy walking out with his bag full so I got excited. Ends up he had gotten the last one. No freebies for me today

My store had this promo again!!! after reading this post I looked at the online flyer for my store and yep..it was in the top right hand corner..my husband had to be at work at 8 this morning, so he went before work to get our bag...

The people that received the promo deal today...did you get the blue reusable Food Lion bag? last time they put the items in brown grocery sacks (which was fine by me)..the items this time was very similar to last time for me.... I got: 2 liter of cola, pkg of peanut butter crackers, pkg of plastic forks, pkg of freezer bags, bag of sour cream flavor potato chips, pkg of aluminum foil and pkg of spaghetti noodles
