Our church is thinking of starting one, probably pretty small scale at first just so we can help out anybody who comes stating a need for food.

I have a group of folks who would be willing to shop and donate, I'm just need to teach them the ropes of using coupons.

I'd love to hear your stories of how you use coupons to fund this kind of project. :) It's such a blessing to be able to give food when a family is in need.

Maybe if several of us each can find at least 10 items to donate we can get together and make a huge difference in our community. What do ya'll think?

The holiday shopping season is starting up and the requests for donations are starting to pour in. What are you planning to do for charity this season?

Most of my giving will require some shopping and deal hunting. I'm sponsoring one foster child's hoilday gifts through CASA/Voices For Children and probably pitching in some $ to help w/another one. I typically choose one or two kids from the Salvation Army Giving Tree. For the CASA child, I already know I have a 4-yr-old girl asking for Dora toys. I'll also pick up clothes in her size. For the Giving Tree, I try to look for a tag that gives clothing sizes as well as "reasonable" gift suggestions. Many times the tags will only list one toy idea and it's something like a video game system or a bicycle. Um, sorry, but I can't swing that! This year I'm glad I can add things like kids' toothbrushes and Buddies Bars. Anyway, I really need to get my act together and come up w/a shopping list for all of this. What are your plans and where do you hope to find your deals?

Well after the last couple months of reaping all the rewards between Target, Walgreens and Kmart, my closets are overflowing...and I decided I need to share the gift of couponing...I took my 6 year old twins with me today and we went from store to store and purchased items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, deodarant, bodywash, razors, tampons, and baby items and we are going to donate them to our local food shelf!! I really want to teach my children that's it's good to receive but great to give!! They had so much fun trying to match the coupons to the items on the shelf and even better they can't wait to give them to families in need!!! I hope everyone considers helping out others, even if it's just one family!!! This is one gift that will never be forgotten!
