Yesterday, on the way back from Cleveland, my hubby and I stopped at the Nike Factory Outlet store. We really only buy shoes once a year and my hubby literally wears his tennis shoes EVERY single day! He wears the soles off them so I rarely feel bad about spending $100 on his Nike's. But me, being the deal seeker I am, saw the outlet and had to stop!

We both ended up with Nike Shox which would have cost close to $300 in stores, his were $69 and mine were $89 (I would normally NEVER EVER spend that much on myself but I needed wide and "run ready" so mine were on the higher priced end). As I was about to swipe my debit card, a lady walks up behind me and says "did you remember to use your discount?" I was puzzled and the store clerk looked irritated... evidently there is a "store guide" you can buy at the visitors center for $1 and it has discounts at each store! This one was $25 off a $100 purchase. She said that she was not going to make it to $100 so I might as well use it!

SWEET!??? How nice that she shared that coupon and saved me $25!!!!!! That is a lot of money in my world!

So ... whoever you are ... I hope you are a couponer on AFC... if you were shopping at the Jeffersonville Prime Outlets yesterday and shared your coupon with me... T H A N K Y O U!!!!!

Stealing Newspapers from Racks?

Seems innocent enough, doesn’t it? You need some extra coupons….you know they are in the inserts sitting in that newspaper rack….what’s the harm in taking a few extra newspapers when you put in your quarters? Who will know the difference? The newspaper office will surely never miss a few papers. Or maybe you go at night and figure “Heck, they are not going to sell these papers anyway….so what’s the harm in taking them?” Try to justify your actions anyway that you can, but in the end it is all stealing. Not to mention punishable by law. And it is probably not stealing from who you think. Almost all newspapers these days are owned by big corporations somewhere and no one feels too much sympathy for these places….me included. So if you try to justify stealing because this big corporation can afford a few losses….we all know that any losses they incur will trickle right down to you and ME. We will all pay for it, one way or another. But, in most cities, when you take papers that you do not pay for, you are stealing from the carrier, not the corporation. This is some Joe or Joanna Blow who is just trying to make it, just like you. No one is getting rich delivering newspapers – whether it be to your driveway or to the racks. And remember, when you complain you don’t get enough vacation time…these guys deliver 7 days a week – 365 days a year! Most newspapers make the carriers “pay” for these papers. He (or she) has to bring back the returns to get “credit” proving he did not sell them. If he cannot produce these papers, then he is penalized…even though he did not collect the money in the rack to pay for them.
I don’t think that many people would intentionally steal from the paper carriers….that is why I bring this up. This is not some high and mighty CEO “somewhere” living in luxury with hefty bonuses…this is the guy whose kids play baseball with your kids. All the carriers I know do not have fancy cars or fancy houses. They are people just like you and I except they are up all night making sure you have a newspaper when you roll out of a nice warm bed. If you have your newspaper delivered to your home, show your appreciation and be good to your carrier this holiday season. If you buy your paper at the rack….I hope you will remember this post next time you drop in those quarters.

Also, I was looking on Ebay for coupons for the BF deals and I noticed there were some auctions for $2 off Infusium but they were also in Spanish. I was just wondering if people have had experience trying to redeem coupons written in Spanish? I don't live or shop in Spanish speaking areas so I'm kinda iffy about using these..A $2 MM on Infusium on BF would be nice though! You think as long as the picture of the item and expiration date are listed, it will go through fine? Thanks for any input!
