Duane Reade is a drug store mainly in New Jersey, New York City and Long Island. It is very popular in Manhattan in some areas you can see one every couple of blocks. There is a Duane Reade not too far from me (actually closer than CVS and Walgreens), but I find I get better deals at CVS or Walgreens. So I rarely shop there.

I work in NYC and you're correct, there is one on just about every block but I have to say, I agree you can totally find much better deals at CVS, by far.... I only go there if I need something in a pinch and don't mind getting ripped off.... And they are a pain when is comes to coupons.....Especially frees and IPS. They almost NEVER take them.....

Scissors Too expensive
I just came back from Georgia where prices are very different here in NY. Duane Reade is extremely expensive I'm not even sure how they even open since everywhere is so much cheaper Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens. The only thing they do have is a points program for every dollar you spend you earn points but it's just not worth it in my eyes....

I psuedo lived in NYC for a while..

There are duane reeds across the street from other duane reeds.

Seriously.

They are everywhere, but I really dont know how they stay in business.

Besides I'm way too far away to do them.
