I re-started this as a new thread to get some traffic...

i just had trouble with these yesterday- i got one of the $10 off anything mailed coupons (MVC) ,ended up needing to return the kids pjs i got and coud not get a m/c. pgs were $14, they said they could only gve me a merch credit for $4, not $14. they said the$10 was a gift and couldn't be 'taken back'. I'll be more careful that i am 100% certain I will keep an ite I use this on. didn't sound good though.

This seems llike a horrible new policy and that if there is fraud there should be a different way t track. I also am unclear if I buy something with Kohls cash (no returns from original purchase) is this is a 'gift' too- and makes the purchase essentially a final sale or forfeit??

Thanks for the info. I never thought about that. I have a $5 card good this week, and I will make sure to buy something there are no questions about keeping. I can see why they do this, but that stinks for people (like you) that have a legit return. It makes me sick that people take advantage of stuff like this and ruin it for everyone.

I have only returned one thing to Kolh's. that was way before x=mas and they reimburse me for everything, the 10 and what I paid out of pocket.

usually if you get the entire amount back if you let them put the return credit back to a kohls merchandise credit. if you choose to return back to a credit card, you wont get that $10's back. same with kohls cash. if you will spend it again, get your refund back as a merchandise credit.

the policy has changed, at least at all of my local Kohls in the Northeast. Any $ off coupon ( like the $10 mvc ones that get mailed) is forfeited if you return with receipt!

same with Kohls cash-- you used to be able to keep it if you took a merch credit on a return after activation period-- now Kohls cash will be deducted from return

That is the new policy changes I've read in Chicagoland as well. I've read some had problems with returns not getting full value credit when they used the $10 KC they earned for spending $50.

This is bad for those with legit returns

this was not Kohls cash-- it was the $10 coupon Kohls occasionally mails to MVC folks. Its the same size at the littke rectangle cardboard 15% pick your day ones.

Last night, I asked DD to return a shirt that shrunk too much after first washing and I got full refund; the $5 IP KC and $10 homemailer KC I used were put on MC while the rest was put back on the CC I used. The 20% discount was taken off the sale price of the item and that's fine with me.

I don't think all stores have implemented changes on their return policy now.

I'd ask to see the SM if they do not give me full refund credit with the KCs on MC since the return policy printed on their receipts (at least in our Kohls) remains the same for Hassle-free returns.

The policy change is likely related to the offer you received.

For the $5 Gift valid 6/14-6/21 (this is a little rectange card) there is wording " RETURN VALUE OF MERCHANDISE PURCHASED WITH A $5 COUPON WILL BE SUBJECT TO ADJUSTMENT. SEE STORES FOR DETAILS."

This wording is not on the $5 email coupon.

My $10 did not say that, as I recall, but in the past, they would always refund this as a mc so that it could be re-used in the future.
I understnad the Kohls cash changes-- that poeple were scamming that and 'rolling; the merch credits, but this change just seems silly and annoying to me.
