My local target is closing out their outdoor patio furniture etc this week. It's currently listed at 30% off and has been for almost a week. When will it be marked down to 75% off? Sunday? I went down there today and they still have a lot left so I'd like to be the first one in the door once it's marked down more. THANKS!

Thur is the markdown day for that dept. It really depends on how fast or slow the stuff is going. If I really want something bad, I will buy at 50%. If it goes down again I will return and rebuy.

a lady at the customer service desk said if I want a price adjustment on clearance that i would have to return, wait for it to go back on the floor, then rebuy. How long does that process really take...? she was somewhat rude when i asked so I didn't press the question.

That all depends on your store. I wouldnt bank on that process though b/c they could take all day to put it back on the floor and you don't know who is going to pick it up. My suggestion is if you really want it buy it at whatever percentage its at and then if you see it later at a reduced price the return the other one. I usually wait till at least 50% off unless its something i "have" to have and then once it goes 75%, I return the others if I'm lucky enough to find the same product. The reason she sounded "rude" is b/c the policy for seasonal and clearance merchandise is at the returns desk and states that you may not get the price you paid for it (although you always do in my exp) when it is reduced (i'm not sure of the exact wording) but price adjustements basically are a no go on reduced merch. (not that the justifies her being rude to you..she simply could have just explained the policy in a "customer friendly" way. Last edited by shereen329; 07-04-2008 at 06:24 PM. |

The policy relates to "holiday and seasonal" merchandise. According to the posted policy, if you return an item that falls under one of these catagories your refund may be for the current selling price rather than the amount that you paid. The tricky thing is that "seasonal" is a pretty subjective term, as is "holiday". (As evidenced by all of those snowman huggies wipes that never went on clearance in some stores. LOL!) I agree that you can't count on being able to return and rebuy if something goes lower. I usually do what Shereen does, buy it at the price I'm *willing* to pay, then if there's any left when it goes lower I buy it again and return it with my original receipt.
