Bad experience with use of phone number

I didn't have my card so I gave the cashier my phone number. She rang everything up and then...no beeping. I bought 2 sures and I would get 3ecb back, but no beep. I looked at my receipt and the last 4 digits of my ECB were wrong. I said this is the wrong number and she said but it took your ECB...
I said, but it is the wrong number. She just ignored me and went along her business. I left and said I was going to call customer service. This is going to be a headache. Should I just return everything or wait and see what corporate says? I had a lot of coupons in this transaction. I know she must have pressed the wrong button.

This doesn't explain the wrong number, but does explain the no beeping......ECBs don't ever print when you use your phone number, only when you have your card!

I just used my mother's card and I had to use her phone number and it printed ECB 3 times so that is not true. I have used ECB and it always prints EBC when I use my phone number. I have done this repeatedly. So I disagree with PP.

I think that is the way it used to be but now it prints them if you use your phone number. Corporate should be able to fix it. One time I used my card but the cashier also scanned a card that was there. e had to force my EB thru and when it printed it had a different card number he said he couldn't fix it and it would be no problem using them (oh course it was a problem) so I called corporate and they had my eb print the next time I went with my card. Don't return the stuff, that would be way too much work. LOL Corporate can help.

ECB always print when I use my DH's card under the phone number only.

I also have noticed that the last 4 numbers are different from when I use his card and when I give the phone number but apparently they are linked because I have never had a problem using the ECB.

Same number wrong order

I just came back from CVS. Used the card and then it had the same information at the bottom. I got my sure EBC, but It said I bought 3. I will have to get another one now. It was the same savings and OOP listed. Same gold bond money used. So now it really is the same number. This is my husbands card, but I used my ECB to pay for the other transaction. They went through. Why did that happen? Has this happened to anyone else?

DH and I have our cell phones attached to our cards. That way who every is doing there deals in their city if we forgot our cards we just punch in our number. No problem.

I always use my phone number and I have no problems. Ussually. One day I gave the girl my number and she said she would just scan her card. I told her no. I needed to do it under my card. She had already started to scan my items. I made her get the manager. He made her void the transaction and re-scan. I think she was trying to collect on my ECB's. I wonder how many people she does this to that do not realize the value of the ECB's. I would def contact corp.

I have read on other forums that the #s at the bottom of the ECBs and on receipts will print slightly 'off' of what your real card # is when you use your phone #. Like if your last 4 digits are '1234' on the receipt it might read '2345', or maybe it 'moves over' a space like if your last 5 #s are '56789', instead of the receipt showing '6789' like you would expect it might show '5678' instead, I can't exactly remember which one of these it is... If you were able to redeem the ECB fine, then I say don't worry about it.

Also, cashiers who are quick to scan a card if you don't have yours may be scanning a 'master card' or one from the pile of new cards, b/c they are expected to achieve a certain 'scan rate' for the day/week/whatever. If they *are* trying to collect on ECBs on their own card, though, then you should report them b/c that is completely unacceptable to CVS and I think it's a fireable offense...
