| Is it just my Walgreens doing this deal?
Tonight I went in to get my 2 toothbrush deals, and all over the store is a sign that says something to the effect of "Spend $5.50 and get a free Oral B toothbrush. Ask us how." I'm thinking, that's wack wording for the $5.50 RR deal, but whatever. So I grab my 2 toothbrushes and head to check out. The kid behind the counter looks at them as says, "oh these are the ones we are giving for free." Ummm... I just wanted to get the RR and use my coupon, I say. He says, OK, I'll see if it prints out. Well, everything went smoothly and we both breathed a sigh of relief, but in the car on the way home, I was thinking, if I had bought one at $5.50 and my store is giving one away with any $5.50 purchase, that should have qualified me for the freebie. Plus I had the q for B1G1 free, so that would be a third toothbrush, AND my RR should still have printed. So buy 1 get 2 free and $5.50 in RR. I am way confused... is anyone else's walgreens doing this? Mine is a small walgreens and they had tons of these toothbrushes, so I was thinking maybe they are doing this special deal just to get them out of their hair. ![]() Kristine |

I would guess that they mean that the toothbrush is free after RR. The fact that you got 2 was just a bonus since you used the bogo q.

Yes that is what I am thinking. That is there way of saying you are getting it free also. I am saving my coupons for CVS and just buying one toothbrush at a time at Walgreens!

I am not confused, that is how their FARR (free after Register Rewards) have always been. You always have to pay for it first and then the cat prints. that is the way it was with the 2pk Olay deal, you pay for it first and then the cat prints. that was a moneymaker because many of us used the $2 coupon to pay for it so it was just tax we paid and then got $2 OYNO. the marketing strategy is such that you cannot use the cat for the next purchase of the same item, they want the customer to buy other items worth more than the cat is. if y'all notice the new wording on the 5.50 cat, which states something like it is good for an item more than 5.50 (I don't have it in front of me but that is how I remember it). They don't realize how the smart and savvy couponers can easily go around this....LOL |

nope, I went to a different wg today and they didn't have the same offer. I specifically asked the guy at the first wg I went to if I bought ANYTHING for $5.50 would I get the toothbrush totally free and he said yes. I am going to call the store today to find out what the deal is. FWIW, this wg that is apparently giving them away and LOADS of them -- I'm talking boxes and boxes at the cash registers. The second one I went to today had 3 left. Kristine |

That's not occuring at my store. You first purchase the toothbrush and then receive the $5.50 RR. I bought 2 (seperate transactions with the BOGO Q). No promo's for them that I could see and nothing mentioned by the manager and he always points out the sales to me.

I bought 2 today and used the BOGO coupon from Sunday's insert. Should I have gotten 11.00 in RR or just 5.5? TIA |

I don't know where he got that info that say buy anything for 5.50 and get the TB free. too bad for him if he is giving away the TB, he may just end up having to pay for them out of his bonus check. good for the customers, though since who doesn't want a free power TB? |

if you have cats from other promos like Coke or Kelloggs , you can safely use it to pay and still get a 5.50 RR. |

My RR states that it cannot be used on P&G products -among other new restrictions. This would limit buying more of the toothbrush deals with this RR. My DH thinks it is funny that everything I have brought home for him these last two weeks require batteries-1st a razor and now a toothbrush.

At least the Durex (if you got one) comes with it's own battery

While your at WAGS getting the toothbrush pick up the Arm and Hammer detergent (B1G1) and with a 1.00 off 2 coupon from paper and the windex wipes are also B1G1 with 1.00 off any windex products from paper (I used 2) 4.99 for 2 detergents, 1.79 for the wipes, not bad. My total was 7.37 on 19.56 worth of stuff we needed and I paid with the $5.50 toothbrush cat. I'm amazed that someone would pay $3.79 for a packet of windex wipes though.

I had a friend call me yesterday to tell me she went to Walgreen's with her 4 B1G1F coupons in tow and bought 8 toothbrushes. She said she bought 2 toothbrushes in each transaction, gave the cashier her coupon and the cashier rang the coupon through 'TWICE'! So all she paid was the tax on 2 brushes and she rec'd the $5.50 RR. She ended up with $22 in RR and 8 brushes and paid around $3.50. She said she felt guilty but she kept telling the cashier she thought it was wrong but the cashier insisted she was doing it correctly. I feel bad for the cashier because I'm sure her drawer will be off and she'll probably get in trouble, but I didn't know what to tell her other than WOW..... and I wonder what the cashier was smokin' cause why would you ring a coupon through twice???? She said she wasn't about to drive back either because she just filled up her SUV and it cost her $120, so hopefully this store was giving away the brushes otherwise they lost $22. H ! |
