I live in Northern VA. I went to Safeway today to use $1 off Life cereal, on sale for $1.88. They said they don't take IP! I was so upset, I asked for the manager. He said they need to get an OK from corporate. So I went to another store where I have used IP before and he said the manager said no. I talked to an asst. manager who helped me and it scanned through. I emailed Safeway about these 2 stores and how gas & groceries are going up in price. I wrote how both Safeway and the customer benefits from coupons. I hope they respond back. Anyone have this problem?

It's YMMV about IP's. Safeway's corporate policy is to accept them, but not all stores go with that. I have 2 Tom Thumb's (owned by Safeway) in my town and one accepts IP's and the other doesn't.

My Dominicks (Safeway store) does NOT accept them. The competing grocery store in town does take them, and expired coupons, too!

you guys should print the safeway home page and show them where it says printable coupons .. I got the same story last year from a new manager I said "how odd that safeway/vons has a printable coupon section on their website yet you refuse to accept them." doesnt that seem like a bait and switch? You give the links and options to print coupons for use in the safeway store then dont accept them.." He took them and he has ever since...

Mine in Silver Spring, MD doesn't take them either. They basically said it was up to each store and they don't. So I have gone back to the commissary!

I was at Shoppers Food Warehouse today and the girl went to a manager and they would not take the IP coupons I printed for cereal either. Oh well...I don't normally shop there anyway but the General Mills deal on cereal $1.00 a box for 10 and I used coupons out of the paper to get 10 boxes of cereal for 5.00...My sister has 4 kids so she is going to enjoy them. Good luck with Safeway... |

My Safeway down the street did this to me last year- I informed them that I would not be shopping there anymore since there was another one I went by often that I knew took the IPs. The old store has since changed their mind and now does take them. I think some times it is just the manager making a decision based on an experience he may have with someone abusing the system. Hopefully your store will change it's mind also. |

New IP Policy says they will not accept them if it deducts more than 50% of the value of the item. Had them email me a copy of the current policy.
