This is a great gift idea for kids We purchased my kids one when they were 11,10, 9 and 7 and paid well over $100 for one very similar to this, they loved it! Not only did they use it for astronomy, they used it to watch stuff in the back pastures. It was a great spotting scope and they enjoyed watching hawks, coyotes and deer through it.

We live in Arkansas and the stars are so bright here it's like you can reach out and touch them! I live very rural and no "city lights" to yuck up the sky. It was one of the firs tthings I noticed when we moved here, I was 16 and we had come here from New Jersey and I could not believe what a difference in the night time sky!

I just got ours today too! Very fast shipping. The telescope is very nice, good quality and small! Comes with a nice carry bag. Lightweight and small - will be great for hiking or camping! My husband likes it and thinks it will be great at the beach (watch boats, etc.) - the tripod is for a table top, rather than full size. I got one $20 gift card with mine but I'm happy. I got mine today also. Wow, that was fast shipping. THANK YOU SO MUCH delligirls and karena333....I didn't even know there was a gift card in there! LOL, I was so excited to get out the telescope that I had my daughter run the shipping box out to the recycle! I just went out and dug it out, and there it was!
